do they know who you are? arn't you afraid of a beating ?

not everyone knows but people have been coming up to me and greeeting me nicely. I don't know how they knew.

I (think) I understand where you are coming from when you compare CH to Chabad/Jewish life in the former USSR... I was in Ukraine a bit ago and I was amazed by the simplicity and sincerity. The Jews in shul pronounced every syllable of the davening and were very open to guests and visitors. From the locals I associated with, I felt no negativity or coldness.

I also remember Shabbos- when the 17 year old former farm boy would put on his only white shirt and shiny shoes which were given to him by the shluchim. He would beam and eye the array of salads with excitement... and awe.

Should we all have little so we can appreciate a lot? Or should we all have a lot and work through the "unrelatedness" and materialism that ensues?

Look on the bright side- their indifference and your aloofness are both a facade. Push comes to shove, we are all one and really do love each other...

Gravatar Nechama, what you write has nothing to do with what I wrote. I don't do sugar here and I don't want my readers to comment with sugar. I hate sugar.

Gravatar When something is new, then it catches the eye . . .
the monotony of how we view Judaism shows . . .
