There was an article on this in wallstreet journal few years ago that time the same problem was with Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice it was discovered by a vegitarian woman who was apalled after reading the ingridients and looking up what cochineal is.
She called the company and was told that this is a common use of this particular dye aand that the insects are burned and chemickly processed .

R. Ovadiah Yosef and many other gedolim say that there is no problem with this, since by the time the bug is put in it is no longer rauy le-achilah. It is a similar debate to the machloket about gelatin.
