I believe they simply print a certain number of images (frames) on tiny strips (ridges) positioned at different angles which enables you to see a "play back" when your view angle shifts. This type of technology has been in use for a very long time, and has been getting progressively "micro"- now down to the proverbial "postage stamp."

Gravatar The actual stamps have 24 frames of animation taken from the historical footage, the stamps sold out in The Netherlands in 24hrs! there is more information on this site http://www.lenticular.org.nz, but you are correct it is technology which has been around sine the 18th century (stereo views), and like all technology it is evolving into new areas never used before.
