This quote from that article linked by Jake shows how all hareidy newspapers twist and turn the truth, ideological bastards a worse than bloody communists:
He later moved to London with his family when his father was pressured to take a rabbinical position there. His father soon passed away, when he was only twelve. His mother then entrusted his education to the Telz Rosh Hayeshiva who was visiting London at the time.

Certy: Reb shalom is named after The Rebbe Rsha”b he learned in Eitz Chaim yeshivah in London
Jake: could be he was born in chevron but his father was a rov in tel aviv
Tzemach Atlas: it is interesting his father was always a rov in first in Russia afterwards in Eretz yisroel and afterwards in London you cannot call that preserved you will see that he thought telz was a gan eden the truth is that what can expect from a boy who grew up in London in the thirties where yidishkeit was a joke there was no heimishkeit so when he comes to telz it is for a gan eden ( once heard but I cannot confirm)that the ryat”z
Wanted that he should learn in lubavich but the family was scared that a English boy would not feel good in a Chasidic yeshiva so they sent him to telz instead

HirshelTzig, I have no problem with linking to your site, it is just the article was not up to my standards and recycled some myths as you often do. I don't want to be a part of it. Write something good, I will link to it.

If the late Chaim Gutnick was born 80 or so years ago, that would've been in the earliest days of Tel Aviv, which was only founded a century or so ago... And Chaim's father was a Rov in Tel Aviv? Could be....

Jake: Rav Gutnick was first a rov in Tiblisi Russia (he was sent i think by the rebbe Resha"b) afterwards he ended up in Tel aviv in the twenties or the early thirties and he was a member of the tel aviv rabbinate

Totally off topic - but I'm/was a Gutnik (married now and a Levine). We're such a small family it's always odd to me to find my maiden name on someone's blog or in a new article (Rav Gutnick comes up often, obviously). Anyway - if any Gutniks want to contact me about my family history and a possible connection, feel free. My email address is posted.
