Should I ask where I stand?
The problem I'm sure is with all blogs out there . . . as the blogosphere leaves its fringe state and becomes more main-stream, it will begin to become clogged by the dregs . . .
But good content should always be around . . .

I was reading your link before about books being dead and how interactive and anti-lecture media will soon prevail, and I was thinking how much I appreciate books better than blogs. The problem with public and uncensored publishing is that you encounter a lot of crap. Sometimes, so-called "lecture" media is more worthwhile, simply because when things turn into a reactionary information sharing event, it leaves very little time for interpretation and absorbancy of the information. Also, when something is printed, it gives it more of a prestige and value in a way. So that's why I think that while blogs are valuable, they can't, or won't, replace good old fashion books. The Village Voice is always saying the novel is dead. And I just never thought so. Sometimes fiction, specifically in a novel form, can reach audiences in a way nothing else can. That's human nature, which is usually pretty constant.

As far as the Orthodox-updating-stagnancy, I think that people realize this kind of inherent fault with instant publishing with comments system. There's usually interesting content out there, but it is so transient and untangible that it really is flawed as a means of mass communication.

or everyone could just be busy.

alas, one reason why i left the sphere.
