This opens a can of worms concerning copyright laws and the net and halachik issues too. Did Mishpacha commit plagerism or are blogs open slather?

Gravatar Oh my gosh! I see they used your picture. From my law school experience, I believe the answer is YES, they broke the law. As for breaking halacha, you would know more about it than I would; my suspicion is also YES.

Unfortunately, it probably would not be profitable for you to sue them, however a quick phone call asking them to print a comment in their next issue linking you and your site would be appropriate.

You can even morally do this under a threat of suing them if they don't do it, although I feel that a threat of suit should come only as a response if and after they rejected your request that they give you the proper credit.

Maybe you could also ask them for some free ad space in return for their using your picture, although if I were you, I would settle for a quick link to your site with the appropriate credits.

Gravatar The photo was from the Reuters feed. Drudge doesn't give credit to these photos. I didn't give credit at the time. I am now more carefull and credit all the photos that I know of the origin and also I do check copyright. My copyright is posted on the blog. Reproduction is permitted with attribution.

But I am not talking only about the picture...

Gravatar funny ... I seem to recall having a discussion about such copyright infringement not too long ago ... :-)

Gravatar This is the website that everybody should go to for some fresh air.
