I'll tell you what's up with them: They are meant for families, get it? it's an easy and convinient way for them to keep in touch and share stories; not for you to intrude into their private lives by a) reading the blogs, and b) linking to them. The same goes for the teenage girls' blog linked to below. Why can't you just give them some privacy? Why do you have to dominate blogworld? Do you want to intimidate them out as you did to HK Girls?
YOU ARE DISEASED PERSON!

i don't understand. if they desire privacy, why don't they restrict access to their blogs and limit it to their family members?

yes.
(1) The Groner family (Rabbi leibel Groner's family)
(2) Gurevitch
(3) pinson
(4) Loewenthal family (noted Professor in england)
(5) Hecht family - though theirs is smart enough to be closed.
(6) katzman
(7) Kaplan (the family of the Rosh Yeshiva in montreal)
and many others.

Dg, can you explain to me , what's so sick about what ta is doing, or for that matter what I am doing.
TA finds it interesting the recent trend of family blogs. The idea is totally understandable -it's a great way of keeping in touch with family.
He is interested to know if there any other Lubavitch family blogs, and as it so happened, I recently stumbled across a few. (they are linked to each other)
What happens if I told you that I'm a a part of 1 or more of these families or that I am friendly with some of them and therefore like to follow their news a little.
What's sick about that.
If indeed the families wanted to keep it private, they would password protect the blogs or make a yahoo group, or email group or something like that.
I'm not sure what all the outburst is dg and dovid and Izzy.

Yisroel,Australia: As far as I know, these blogs cannot be password protected. And while it is an interesting trend and so on, I dont see why people's private blogs have to be broadcast on such a widely read blog as this one. I must say that I agree with dovid on this one. I know it's rare, but this time the guy is right. Tzemach you go too far sometimes.

It should be quite apparent that if one makes a blog without a passowrd then one is inviting the entire world to read it simply because that is the nature of the net. If these families were truly interested in keeping their family stuff on the net private they would use emails instead. Really they are looking for some kind of attention, or they want to show off their families, because to me this seems like some kind of narcisitic exhibitionism--"hey world, look at our family!"

I fell duty-bound to register a protest.
U.S. intellectual property rules may augment, but not supplant traditional Jewish privacy rules. These are quite clear that people are entitled to their own space not being invaded, indeed they prohibit someone creating a situation in which he may see into someone's home.
The examples begin with Bilam's praising the way the Jews' tents are positioned in a way that no one can peer into the other's, through the Talmud in Yuma 4b (ויקרא אל משה וידבר למה הקדים קריאה לדיבור לימדה תורה דרך ארץ שלא יאמר אדם דבר לחבירו אלא א"כ קורהו ... מניין לאומר דבר לחבירו שהוא בבל יאמר עד שיאמר לו לך אמור שנאמר וידבר ה' אליו מאהל מועד לאמר), on to the very beginning of Bava Basra (one may not construct/alter his own home in a way that would enable him to see into his neighbor's), culminating with a famous cherem by Rabbeinu Gershom. The above examples are all the more pertinent, considering the numerous times that the owner of this blog has used the blog/home analogy.
Someone who leaves money where it may be easily stolen may be foolish; stealing it is no less immoral for the fact. The same applies to the pictures being linked to; it is quite unlikely that these sites' owners would consent to their contents being publicized. And please do not insult anyone's intelligence with some position along the lines of "by posting online, they have impliedly consented to have the world see them". Their being foolish and naive for not password protecting their blogs/sites has NOTHING to do with an absolutely unacceptable approach to other people and their life.

I don't think you can do it with blogspot. I believe you need to host your blog on a separate web site then you can use the tools that the host company always gives you to password protect the directory where the blog resides.

this is really pathetic... a FAMILY blog is for the FAMILY. so, they didn't password-protect it. i have 2 questions.
1. why do u care what's on their blog?
2. what's it your biz?
get a life.

I don't know about you guys, but I instinctively refrain from posting anything about my family online -- save for passworded pages opened solely to those I invite.
My privacy and my safety matter to me. I do preach out online, and you never know what nut could decide to "replay" attacking my family instead of writing back with a coherent argument.
Thus, you'll find no pictures, no names, no information of any kind about my family members online.

being a family member of one of the blogs mentioned i must say that it is totally sick that u can check out a FAMILY blog then go bash that family on an open website! it seems like ur the problem, posting family bogs on this site! ur also totally pethtic! don't u hav nethin better to do w ur life?!? and about the whole posting personal info. the family knows it's an open blog and is smart enough 2 not post nethin that can b harmful! it's not like theyr posting thier SS#! and just 4 the record u can get more info in a phone book!!! and if u think they r trying to show off, once agian, the blog wan't made 4 the public! these blogs r meant 4 FAMILIES and FRIENDS that r seperated by distance 2 kit! and about it being foolish, um i don't think so. it's not like we're posting the blog name all over in diff places 4 the world 2 c! the family knows about it and will sometimes give the name to a friend- but not 2 b given out 2 the world! the fact that u found it probably took some work and if u found it by accident u didn't hav 2 check it out or nething! so just bugg off! go take care of ur own biz! and if u don't think it's safe or whatever, fine! don't make urself 1!
ps. all this garbage talk isn't helping ne1 in ne way!!!

some1 said that if a family has a blog and doesn't password it it means they are inviting the world. if my door is unlocked but closed does that mean i'm inviting everyone? NO! it means that IF some1 one comes in i cant say nethin, if the door is wide open that means i'm inviting the world. an unpassworded blog is like an unlocked door, not 1 that is left wide open. u, who writes the names to the blogs r opening the door!! and what is worse is that it isn't even urs 2 open!!! so back away- NOW!!!
