Whats up with the attack on Breslov. I know many of them to be fine people. They have done alot to bring people to Frumkeit especially in Israel.

Gravatar Great, some of my best friend are jews... read moron. Let me ask you, you are a Rabbi how come you never wrote three lines, always not more than two. What kind of Rabbi are you?

Gravatar I hate Breslov.

Gravatar LO TSNA ACHICHA BELEVAVECHA! You hate Breslov and you hate Chabad but you LOVE Biagio Antonacci! You have a problem. When was he last time you learned Gemara? Hafoch ba, chafoch ba!

Gravatar Not to be antagonistic, but dont you find youself no longer qualified to evaluate the validity of ultra-orthodox groups, when you youself show signs of violating there rules?

Gravatar TA,

I know I am going to be called a moron by you for saying this, but doesn't the fact that many, if not most,Breslov chassidim adopt Breslov to who they are and where they are in life, and not just make it an experience, answer your call above to "resist packaging"?

Gravatar fedora black, if you want to learn Tango, don't make up your own dance and call it Tango. This has nothing to do with packaging. Now you might ask why not make up a new dance? Perhaps but this is a different game than.

actually as TA is openly declaring his feelings,he is not transgressing lo etc as that issur is only if the emotion remains within one's heart concealed.

Gravatar I think it means that you should not hate your brother EVEN in your heart. IMHO.
He wrote, however, that he hates Breslov not Breslovers so this may not apply to him.

Gravatar You prefer pre-packaged off-the-shelf Judaism in a boxed set? Leave your heart at the door (but bring your checkbook in)?

Breslov, especially Israeli style, is incredibly vibrant. Coherent, no.

BTW, does Chabad attract any less wacko's than Breslov? Chabad just does a better job institutionalizing them.

Gravatar Breslov as opposed to other chassidus is a form of serving Hashem that encourages
among other things happiness and appreciating any form or level of serving Hashem that we accomplish. A form of prayer called hisbodedus - in ones own language to talk to Hashem. Ritzonos and kisufim - working on onesself to desire to be close to and do the will of Hashem.
Also Hiskashrus to tzaddikim that is we all know our shortcomings but if we are connected to the tzaddik that is as if we are part of the tzaddik and have from the perfection of the tzaddik.
Breslov was never and will never be a
chassidus that is represented by certain dress, minhagim, food, neighborhood etc. anyone and everyone is invited to join.

Gravatar Breslov, especially Israeli style, is incredibly vibrant. Coherent, no.

With your permission, Breslov preceded chabad in thinking treif.
Their trips to Uman, leaving their families behind on Rosh Hashana, because Reb Nachman promised for all who pray at his tomb that all his prayers will be answered?!
Excuse me ?
That's treif in my book. What happened to melekh haolam? that whom melo kol haaretz kvodo?
Allowing marriages of 13 and 14 years old in Yavneel their Galil "eer breslov", does not render them any more endearing or acceptable.
And the crown of their feats in our generation, the dance cum shofar blowing in Yavneel upon hearing that Y Rabin was murdered.
Not kosher at all! If you ask me, Yabneel is Ir Asherah, their part of town should be treated like ir hanidachat! Their siddurs have so much deals with heaven, much like deals of Uman. All treif!

Gravatar What I sense here is that you have never met Breslover Chassidim who are not Baale Teshuva.
There are such creatures in Brooklyn and Monsey and I see them as normal people , many very spiritual.
Haskofa, How can one really discuss this subject in depth on a blogg ?
I suppose the writer is impressed by the Satmarer, Gerer, Belzer, Stoliner etc Chassidim he ahs met ???!!

Gravatar "HATE"

my Mother taught me never to hate anyone.

Even you Tzemach and Breslov

Gravatar IM A HOSSID BRESLEV FROM ARGENTINA..
TO ALL THE PEOPLE HERE IM SURE THAT NEVER OPEN A LIKUTE MOHARAN
IF YOU DONT KNOW THE SHEVUA OF THE REBE ABOUT UMAN YOU CAN TALK ABOUT IT
then.."i hate breslov" come off it..sinat jinam?

Gravatar teach us please reb ilan, what was the shevua of reb nachman, and in which way was i wrong?

Gravatar as an aside to schneurs comment:

there are chabad families today, who descend from breslever.
yunik and brod are two.

Gravatar What I sense here is that you have never met Breslover Chassidim who are not Baale Teshuva.

Reb Schneur,
In my case, actually I never met a Breslov baal tshuva, I only spoke with the particular Breslov Shaliach who used to call on us and their local "manager " if you will. Both come across as distinguished but with a message. It is their messages I don't care about, from their siddur to encouraging people to go to Uman on Rosh Hashana, since the Rebbe promised? !
Are you saying that the trouble is with the baalei tshuva? What is it? Some kind of Erev Rav syndrom to hang all troubles on?

Gravatar TA, I really feel sorry for you. You can't stand to see all the light that Breslev spreads, because you dwell in darkness and machlokess. May Hashem help you. I forgive you. http:// nachmanbreslev.blogspot.c...breslevers.html

Gravatar I respect the BT community. But some of them have serious mental issues. After all few normative people will abandon their life styles for a drastic chnage in derech.
Thus all I said was that FfB Breslover are as normal as Belzer, Gerer and Vishnitzer chasidim.

Gravatar IM BRESLOVER, IM NOT A BAAL TESHUVA, I NEED TESHUVA FOR A LOT OF THINGS, LIKE YOU (MAY HASHEM FORGIVE YOUR AVON OF LASHON HARA OF THE TZADIK HAEMET), I WAS RAISED IN A RELIGIOUS FAMILY IN ARGENTINA..
THE SHEBUA OF RABENU HAKADOSH WAS: "ANYONE WHO COME TO MY GRAVE IN UMAN,PUT A PENNY ON MY SPIRITUAL FAVOR, AND SAY THE TIKKUN HAKELALI (PSALMS: 16-32-41-42-59-77-90-105-137-150) I WILL DO A GREAT FAVOR TO HIM...(for more information see sichos haran, pleease, see it, there is the original, i dont know english very well..so..)"

THAT WAS THE SHEBUA OF THE SADIK!

Gravatar IEHI RASON H' ITABARAJ SHE KOL HAMALJUT SHEL APIKOROSIM, VE AKOFRIM BE SMEARED FROM THE EARTH WHIT THE COMING OF THE GOEL, THE NEFESH OF THE SADIK HAEMET, AMEN VEAMEN

Gravatar "few normal people will abandon their life styles for a drastic change" this is an empty generalization, and it is also probably factually false. people from religious households do not realize that severe indoctrination they go through in their formative years is not at all common in secular families. many, if not most, BTs had not have any “derech” prior to discovering their jewish observant identity. becoming religious is of course a big change in life style but it is not as profound (for many) as religious people think. for instance, my parents שליט׳א would not care much if i abandon judaism and join zen buddhizm להבדיל, provided i and my family are equally happy in our newly discovered religion. the “drastic change” for many BTs is confined to a “life style”, outer observance. as far as ideology is concerned, the BTs generally do not have to break away from their previous way of life, but rather adopt a new one.

Gravatar Ilan do Braziw
"ANYONE WHO COME TO MY GRAVE IN UMAN,PUT A PENNY ON MY SPIRITUAL FAVOR, AND SAY THE TIKKUN HAKELALI (PSALMS: 16-32-41-42-59-77-90-105-137-150) I WILL DO A GREAT FAVOR TO HIM...(..... pleease, see it, there is the original, i dont know english very well..so..)"?!

you don't know english, that's true, but it is not a problem!
the problem is, if R Nachman really promised jews to leave their families on Rosh Hashone, for the purpose of going to Uman,-not eretz yisrael? not to visit et pnei rabbo bechag? he will do them a favor from the grave?
was he jewish? or a min?
Uman is in an anti semitic country, and jews who have mosdos, synagogues, in their coutries should leave everything on rosh hashone and go to the antisemites for the purpose of praying on the grave of a "tzaddik?!" who promised?!
Is this judaism or avoda zoreh?
You don't know english? OK but this you will understand-as you wrote is yourself- :
IEHI RASON H' ITABARAJ SHE KOL HAMALJUT SHEL APIKOROSIM, VE AKOFRIM BE SMEARED FROM THE EARTH WHIT THE COMING OF THE GOEL, THE NEFESH OF THE SADIK HAEMET, AMEN VEAMEN

The apiqorsim, the akofrim, and in particular the minim, are none else then yourself and your spiritual leaders. Those toyter and those alive!
I tell you why, it's because your souls, are still wallowing in Mem Tet shaarei tumo of Ukraine, you still live in your mind in malchus harishoo of the "pale of settlement", your atzmius and mohus is all imbibed with the mashqe you used to sell in your taverns.
I give you a besser tiqun:
read the holy "birkos haminim" every weed day beli shem havoye 25 times shachris and 32 times mayriv. Do it for 1 month then stop than repeat this order for another month, from Kof Dales Tishrei onwards.

Gravatar Listen, why don't you all try actually learning R. Nachman's Torah before all the Lashon Hara? It happens to be one of the deepest and most profound sefarim around. In any case, it is no chiddush to ask the question about leaving Israel for Chutz laaretz. There are deep inyanim with going there for Rosh Hashana, but you have to learn about it to understand. As far as crazy Breslovers or whatever you're speaking about, it is specifically because Breslov is the only Chassidus today that isn't institutionalized that there is hefkerus, that is to say, there is no "entrance committee" or costume, etc. Anyone can do anything, and call it Breslov. If you want to understand Breslov, learn it inside, just like with anything else. As far as Yavneel, that is one specific sub-group and shitta- and in any case you can't judge a chassidus, just like you can't judge Torah or Judaism itself only by it's practitioners. Jews aren't necessarily Judaism. Am Haaretzim shouldn't be speaking about things they know nothing about!

Gravatar There is something in common to all the morons and idiots, ignoramuses, Lubavitch, Breslov and the like. They all assume that people know knowing nothing about their secrets. They know the truth that nobody has seen. Listen pal, I was at Reb Nachman Tzion in 1979, before you were born that is. No get the hell out of here.

Gravatar Having been at the tzion is not the same thing as having spent time learning Likutei Moharan. To learn what R. Nachman taught about Rosh Hashanah, see LM section 2, Lesson 1. It is long and difficult though.
It has nothing to do with secrets. but if you are going to criticize, for example, people going to his Tziun, on Rosh Hashanah, learn what he taught about it. There are reasons people would do such a thing. There are plenty of sources throughout Shas, Midrash and Zohar as well that speak a great deal about the value of kivrei tzaddikim, etc.
The ikkar of Judaism, of course, is not graves, gimmicks or politics. It is Torah study, mitzvah performance and faith. Anytime you take what is of secondary importance and make it primary, it ends up unbalanced and not credible.
In any case, there is no need for such venom in your response to me, I didn't say anything that should have been personally offensive to you. My only point was that regarding Breslov, there is 1. a positive reason why in addition to a lot of good, there is also a lot of hefkerus and 2. that there is a difference between criticizing indiviuals (hopefully not speaking lashon hara in the process) and criticizing a whole chassidus, or the whole derech taught by a tzaddik on the level of R. Nachman.
There is unfortunately a lot of bad religion floating around today, but it is important to distinguish between the ideal, as expressed by the Torah itself, or in the teachings of true tzaddikim, and the human reality. In some cases, the teachings themselves are the problem. But if that is what someone thinks, they need to know the sources inside to speak with any authority on the subject.

Gravatar If you want another, more concise source about Tzaddikim and Rosh Hashanah, there is one in Sfas Emes on the subject that is excellent. I unfortuntately don't recall the exact locations, as he has a number of drashos on the subject, but it's worth looking for.
