I find this guy jyk quite long winded and boring.
Australia isn't passionate about politics since, B"H, our existance is not in jeopardy! The worst we can expect is traffic jams from the 12,000 people who were in the central business district at 5:00am to watch the soccer!

Valium in the water supply would be the salavation of the entire middle east not just Israel. Imagine the contribution to world peace if the Islam loonies would mellow out on 50mg of valium a day. Or at least a six pack.

Aah Aussie Echo appears on this blog.
Your blog must becoming somewhat booring.
Of course the apathy here is due to the fact that our existence is not at risk as opposed to the daily pressures of Israel, where physical security cannot be taken for granted. I was merely stating the obvious & my comments were made in jest.
Though I do fear that even if Israel's security was guaranteed there would still be major conflicts within Israel that would make life their extremely intense & passionate.
TA,
I see you have an appreciation of the finer things in life - the World Cup. Soccer here was once a sport seen as a foreign game played by migrants. This attitude made life quite difficult for me in my youth when I was somewhat of a serious player. Having played in my primary school years (not at a Jewish school), the Goverment high school I later went to didn't play the sport because it was a "wogs" game (a perjorative term referring to Italians or Greeks etc..)
Now with multiculturalism being embraced by Australians over the last 20 years, soccer has finally come of age.
If there is one thing Australians are passionate about is sport. This national characteristic has influenced even the most chassidisher bochurim (though that may be a contradiction in terms) & often lead to problems when Aussies move on to Chabad yeshivos in Israel & even the States. Montreal in particular is tough on bochurim playing any sport.
Anyway, that is a subject on its own. I am about to indulge in what is left of my youthful passion for soccer & watch the first of the elimanation matches.
