It is now commonly assumed that Barrett was not just another "60s acid casualty" like his friends wrote him off as, but rather suffered some sort of undiagnosed and misunderstood condition.

Perhaps he would have been able to continue to share his creativity with the world for another 30 years rather than becoming an indigent if his condition would have been correctly understood as a rare form of genius. It was the band who dumped him and stopped bringing him to gigs when they tired of his "unconventional behavior" on stage. Did they not realize that the same genius who had gotten them to where they were was exploring the next level of his art?
