Well you may be right.

But the photograph, in living color, on the front page of the Sunday New Duranty Times (at least the printed national edition that was delivered this morning, I didn't see it on the website) showed a group of heroes, identified as paratroopers, marching back from Lebanon with one of their wounded comrades on a stretcher, and singing.

Now I might not be a very astute psychophotographic interpreter, but they certainly didn't look defeated to me.
