I, too, feel that TA has been unduly harsh with the "misnagdim". However, it should be noted that when there was a call a few years ago to draft more Yeshiva Bochurim in Israel into the IDF, Roshei Yeshiva defended their non-serving bochurim by saying that they are "Memitim et atzmam beTalmud Torah" (killing themselves in the study of Torah).
Get real. Real live people are getting really killed for real. This 'killing themselves in the study of Torah' story doesn't fool many people.
Maybe TA's misnagdim simply don't have any better ideas on how they can help. To be fair, what CAN they do? And I'm certainly no fan at all of Tehilllim-zogging. Maybe everyone contributes in whichever way they can.

Yes, it is theoretically possible that the yeshiva bochrim could drop what they are doing and fly to Israel and enlist. But it is unlikely that they (1) have enough money for the fare and (2) have any training at all. Thus, there would be an influx of raw recruits. This might be a good thing. I don't know. I do know that the quote about "learning on behalf..." is pretty lame.
As far as saying thillim, other than sending funding and saying thillim, what are those of us too old for the army supposed to do? If you have a better suggestion, then please suggest it. I'd like to hear it.
