I believe the democrat party quit him.

Gravatar He is still calling himself a Democrat, well, an "independent Democrat" and has, I think, announced that he will vote w/the Democratic Caucus if elected.

Gravatar Joe is a good man. I have known him personally in his new haven days.
Its not a good sign for American JewsThere are no real jewish leaders to offer us guidance at this critical time. The Us leaders are money men like Bronfman or Blumberg or machers like Singer and Foxman. But where are the jewish wise men. Alas the rebbe was alone in that category and he is no longer here.
The Israelis have the same problem, no more real leaders but political operatives like Peretz and olmert, old timers like peres and has beens like Netanyahu, but where is the Israeli Churchill.
In a June issue of the JPost General Halutz was interviewed and asked about the missiles in lebanonon (this is long before the outbreak of hostitlities_ , his answer was such nonsense, double speak and baloney that it made no sense.
I hope he is a better tactician than explicator...

Gravatar Shneur,

The Rebbe's prescience (I use this term as "prophetic foresight" has become hackneyed) remains perfectly relevant for our times; his words are even more poignant and compelling than when first spoken.

The time of legitimate temporal authority is over.

The solution to our current dilemma lies in Moshiach with koll hap'rushim shehbedavvar. I am not referring to some pathetically passive whining for some relief. Rather, the vigorous, aware and responsible approach delineated by the Rebbe over decades.

In the parlance of the theory of group psychology, leadership is both a fucntion and manifestation of the group. A well functioning group will produce and maintain affective leadership.

True leadership in our times will never arise from those who have spent their lives compromising their souls to the point where truth and righteous are dismissed outrightly or defined as selfishness and crimes.

What is demanded is an awakening from the inviolable depths of the Jewish soul. And when depth calls unto depth then we will deserve Moshiach and then Moshiach will appear.

As the Rebbe desperately called to us, let it be in a manner of achishennah.
