'Rabbi' Gil Student - thinks the 'Mountain' in Chullin 7b is real - and Medrashim about Moshiach are meant to be read and understood literally - but he thinks Rambam is Metaphorical allegorical and mainly superstition! Gil is as much a Rabbi as the 'Mountain' was a Mountain!

I can't say I know what you're talking about regarding Chullin 7b. R. Yonason Eybeschutz has a great allegorical explanation of that Gemara.
The book was written from the perspective of its target audince.

Pen names aren't unusual in European literatures. The Bronte sisters published under the names Currier, Ellis, and Acton Bell. Anna Akmatova created her surname. Then there is the beautiful name, Sojourner Truth -- a complete invention.
