Gravatar And who objects to a ritual done by Jews? Why other Jews, of course.

“Isn’t it ironic that people who survived the Holocaust would subject animals to a Holocaust of their own?” said Gail Goldstein, a next-door neighbor.
...
Goldstein and her husband, Larry Loew, said that last night, once the authorities had left, several dozen people gathered in the rabbi’s back yard to take part in the ritual.
At any rate, it looks like this is a tempest in a teapot.
The rabbi told inspectors he did not have a permit for the chickens, as required by law. But the rule may not apply because of a state law exempting animals for ritual slaughter from regulation if the animals are not killed for profit.
A Gut Kvittel to all.

Gravatar Ritual complaining about minority halachic opinions...

Gravatar How would Orthodox Jews feel if their neighbors were pagans slaughtering chickens in their back yards. Probably would not take well to it especially in the ritzy orthodox neighborhoods...
As far as I am aware there are no legal exemtptions. Indeed Krinsky's kosher chicken plant was closed down by authorities about 20 years ago because it was not up to code.

Gravatar I agree with Shneur. Also, If you want to Shecht privately than do so... PRIVATELY. Not in your backyard where neighbors will be subject to the gore scenes of shechita. Not to mention the squacking they'd have to put up with.
