What do you mean by "chabad giur factory"? Isn't there a bais din that makes sure that the converts are sincere and observe mizvot? They went to the ohel, no?

maybe she was initially sincere in her commitment to judaism, but then just couldn't hack it.
I know someone in my neighborhood who married a ger, they were married for about 15 years, and then one bright day he decided that he could't hack it anymore. He dumped his family, moved out of state and resumed his non jewish lifestyle.

my point exactly. If you look at the picture at the link you would be repulsed at how the Lubavitchers clown the proceedings with kittels and all the rest. Here is the real carnival.

Let me just state the fact that you are free to contest.
In the seventies the Rebbe screamed his lungs off about Giur Factories in Vienna. To this date Lubavitchers do not accept the Rov there for that reason. The giur factories operated by Chabad in Russia compare to Vienna are like Toyota assembly line compares to Ferrari assembly line.

Unfortunately, this type of scam is becoming very common. There is a lonely 45 year old divorced guy in my Shul who is now corresponding with a Russian Shikse about 20 years his junior. His plan is to bring her over and have her converted here. I tried to explain to him that he is just being used, but he just doesnt get it. Then I spoke with his wealthy mama who would be funding this fiasco. She said, " I know that you are right rabbi, but what can I do, he is 45 years old and has to make his own decisions."

Do you know how the guy treated her? If she really took the Greyhound bus somewhere across the USA, what did she gain from all this? She will not get immigration papers because she didn't stay long enough with the guy. So what did she gain? A free ticket and some presents? If she was really only doing this as a scam then she should/would have stayed longer. Perhaps she was just miserable or disappointed? Sad either way, but unless you know the details, it would be a mistake to judge her so quickly.

NS, you don't have to be a Ger to change your 'lifestyle' or religion after 15 years. It happens to FFBs, it happens to BTs, it happens to non-religious, it can happen to anyone not only to Gerim. The heck, I had a co-worker who after 8 years of marriage divorced his wife and decided that he is more interested in males that females. His Catholic family was kind of outraged. Luckily your Ger didn't do that.

Although I am persona non grata on your blog, I'd like to add, for the sake of historic correctness, that the "giur factory" in Vienna was run by Rabbi Dr Eisenberg, who passed away in 1983, so that Lubavitch of today has no relationship with him whatsoever.BTW his son, who took over the rabbinate, is on excellent terms with Anash there.
P.S. I was the guy sitting next to Hanegby in Tzemach Tzedek on Sukkos. It was nice to see you after so many years.

I don't know to what degree Lubavitch was involved in this scam and there's plenty of Yishivish Rabbonim running Giur factories, that being said Lubavitch today will take anyone into their schools. They are packed with outright goyim questionable conversions etc. Again it comes down to no leadership. The leadership ie Krinsky, Kotlarsky, Shemtov is totally corrupt.
There are Shluchim who are mumchos in converting ENTIRE families. Check out the preschools run by Lubavitch, a good percentage are goyim!!
On to the leadership thing. 14 years have gone by and "leadership" has brought shame and embarassment to Lubavitch.

The essence of the problem has nothing to do with Lubavitch. rather its the desire to be in the USA and the desire to have companionship. Letrs face it most American Jewish women of all stripes are hard to please especially in the finance sector.
Could a Jew 24 year old working for the USPO get married in 2006 to a Jewish girl ? He has to be at least a Chiropractor and make at least 100k annually ,add another 100k if hes Orthodox after all Orthodox Jews are the most non materialistic people in the Jewish community...

This is absurd. You firstly create a bogus story about the fine looking couple. True, looks can be deceiving. But why should nay naive moron reading this blogspot believe the authenticity of this bube maise.
TA, you must provide proof to convince us the your stories' genuineness.
Also, unless you are one of the converts of the Chabad "geyrim factories" you shouldn't speak of in such terms.
I could tell you personally how difficult and complicate it is and how long it actually takes. My friend tried for several years till he was accepted. He was smart and serious about becoming Jewish according to halakha. Prior to his conversion decision he had already acquired plenty of Judaic/Torah knowledge from studying at a Chabad FJC runned school in Dneper. There, he was originally accepted because his father was Jewish and he was under the impression that his mother was too until he discovered that her mother wasn't Jesish, only her father.
As the time elapsed and he tried quite hard for his giyur, he could tell you and so could I that wasn't easy. Easy could have been going to the reform who would have given it to him in no time and for nothing. But he was sincere. That's why he did it through Chabad/FJC.
Please cut out and totally eschew you baloney stories that are posted merely to besmirch the good activities and works of Chabad. I won't buy into them and neither will any serious, open minded rationally thinking reader.

Mr. Gebroktz,
The three goons have everything to do with this and almost every problem in Lubavitch today. If they wouldn't be so involved in suing each other and/or power mongering, if they would be the leaders they claim and want everyone to see them as, there would be a seder in Lubavitch.
They have set the tone for hefkairus and much worse. In this particular issue of geiros which is out of control in Lubavitch, where does the buck stop? Who is responsible? Would the Rebbe be happy with goyim in a Lubavitch school, befriending other yidden and living under the impression for many, as Jews?
Someone asked the motivation for easy conversions??? Its translates into MONEY . More MONEY. The money to convert, the ongoing money afterwards, the impression of a big school, the friends that come along with a good catch, money from the gov, money from sponsors, money money money etc.

Three Stooges: Hey! leave the three Jews from Odessa out of this.
The "three yitushim" is more appropriate.
They wield the hammer of Merkos. They can deny an individual the title of "Shliach mitaam haMerkos" which is so coveted by many Shluchim.
Rabbi Cunin did this when he fired Rabbi Naparstek. In addition the removal of a Shliach's status can as in the case of Naparstek strip him of all his property and money. In many cases this is a big stick.

I speak for myself, still I believe I am a rational and thinking person and almost all that Tzemach says about Lubavitch is spot on.Btw, how rational can you be, when you are a big supporter of Chabad where a large percentage of people still claim the Rebbe, deceased for 12 years is alive! Not only do they say so (and sing so.....)they also promote this garbage in print! Very rational, right??

Let's think outside the box on this.
Perhaps she "needed" to convert. It is theoretically possible that her neshomo is a Yiddishe nechomo, born in a non-Jewish guf.
Perhaps the necessity of being Jewish will not be known for years or decades.
The fact that it was apparently a "sham" wedding in order to get to the USA, that the husband (and guests and folk who gave presents) has apparently been taken advantage of, should possibly not cloud our minds as to the fact that she *was* converted, and now is responsible for her actions *as a Jew*!

TA, while the problems do exist, I know of many shluchim who are very careful when it comes to inyunim like geyur, goyim in their schools etc.
As of note, a shliach told me that he was once offered a large donation by a Litvishe Rosh Yeshivah (the story was said with out a name, k'muvin) in order to convert a Ukrainian girl for him to marry -the Shliach refused.

If you've ever visited Denmark, you'd know the infamous story and history of their once upon a time kollel that existed there. Not too long ago, there was a Kollel in Coppenhagen where young avreichim from Israel would come to study for a few years and were supported by the local community there. Their leader, the Rosh HaKollel was a man who seemed to be as ehrich gets witha rightous long bear and a fine pious family. To cut the long story short.... One day he met a sweet hot Danish chik someplace. He liked her and the rest is histroy. Though he had already been married for a number of years and raised several children, he abandoned them all. He divorced his life-long rebetzin and went on with this newly found Dane. Along with that story the Kollel disappeared, but this Rosh Kollel still lives withe community in Copeenhegn. He's quite known there, especially for his couragous move to drop the wife and move in with a new one.
You'd think that he's not religous anymore and dumped his Judaism along with the wife. But no, he's still there and made her too into some religous monk. They even send their kids to the local jewish school there.

it's funny how L try to defend the indefensible by resorting to the type of logic "those tzadikim also do this garbage".
Before we address this, let's just recall how (even if assuming that the monsey story is true the way the false tzadik describes) L has some of the same stories to it's credit. Aside from a known one some 20 odd years ago in miami and aside from a professional in toronto with his secretary, let's just mention one in brazil where a person from a choshuve L family and also a shtikel maskil in chassidus (would chazer maamorim) and more left his wife and children and took a secreatry a shiksse! and then had the temerity to "convert" her! and with the aid of some of the Shulchim there! ( he moved since fo FL and occasionally has choshuve visitor etc.). And he has/d moral support from many choshuve people in L When he sat shiva many came specially to to shiva call to this lowlife.
But this is neiher here or there: TA did not mention the case under discussion showing the weaknessses of an individual where we probably have tzadikim in many camps.
What was pointed out is: That despite the fact that the Rebbe was adamantly against false conversions, yet, in the past few years there ha a proliferation of large numbers of conversions when the prospective convert is completely not ready for thisprocess.
This may entail different levels: some who may have some partial desire to belong to the jewish peeople but are not yet committed to a life where there is some minimal observance of shabbos, kashrut and taharat hamishpacha (we are talking like things like not driving on shabbos, not going to work on shabbos etc going to the mikve once a month, having a minimal standard of kashrut observance and not eating in non kosher eatin establismhents). and yet there is a growing trend in chabad to assist such conversions. Where did the Rebbe endorse this kind of stuff? They come with hearsay answers, where none are found in his public verifiable letters where he teaches the opposite.
The we have the corrupt cases of a gvir that donates to chabad and has a son or himself attemtping to marry a shiktze or even married to her. And a
lots of effort is put by the "Echlons" in chabad to assist these people to reach quick to rabbonim or rabbanut and get the quickie for the exchange of $ for a mikveh building etc This is a chilul hashem and corruption and preversion of everything the Rebbe stood for.
Whether or not the story that TA posted is the reality in the sense that she went through the chabad giur factories the perception it leaves reflects the reality in many cases.
That this exist by others does not answer: 1) It is not so insitutional as it is by us, 2) They didn't have OUR REBBE! and all tha this entails.

It seems that soon enough half of world jewry will be converts. Some from the "orthodox" factories, but most from the reformed ones. The question is when they will be able to able to intermarry within the larger jewish community, besides for the wealthy ones.
P.S. Isn't there a concept in jewish literature stating that the sole purpose for exile is so that the jews would collect converts along the way..........
