Well, along the same lines, I have a better idea, a brain storming one:

Have a database programmed to generate a search, thereby matching possible shidduchim, based on age and background. Once this is done, one could narrow his search significantly.

actually, something quite like what you are suggesting is coming out Chanukah time in magazine form - called the shadchan.
