Schenur, your last several comments on this blog had a similar theme, namely how you can’t relate to anything that is being said here. I am very sorry for that but I do understand.

Schneur, Would you be able to list three qualities the Shtetl-culture Jew possesses that the Soviet-culture jew doesn't. And vice-versa?

I am unable to go into a historyical and sociological examination of the shtetel , but if you are interested read the book by Zborowski and herzog.
Just for starters the shtetel had a Jewish life , what sort of Jewish life was there in Moscow in 1938 ?
The shtetel had chedorim, talmud Tore , jewish youth groups, a Chevra Sghaas, a rav a shochet melamdim, a Chazan .
Pray tell me how many jewish youth groups were there in Charkov in 1931 ?
The shtetel publically celebated Jewish life cycle events like marriages, Brissin etc. How many Seudoss Mitzvah were there in Vitebsk in 1835 ?
The shtetel had a Jewish culture with Jeish musical groups, a jewish fire brigade, Yiddish newspapers were read, maggidim spoke, Chazzanin spoke. Het how many cantorial concerts were there inleningrad in 1930 ?
By the way I am not knocking the Jews who suffered in the Soviet Union. My uncle was there too as an activist for Lubavotch. I am jsut expressing an observation.
