This is an excellent statement concerning American jewish organizations asw ell.
Surveys and figures published from time to time reveal the huge salaries drawn by senior executives in many if not most American jewish organizations. These are non -profits, yet many of these jewish civil servants would not make half the sum in other non profits and a great deal less even in many other positions such as social work, the rabbinate etc . how many pulpit rabbis draw a salary of a cool half million like the so called "dean" of the Weisenthal center in LA does.
Catholic charities underpay their employees , nevetheless perhaps its time that jewish organizations made it clear that senior positions in their ranks will not pay what a profit organization will.
By the way along similiar lines (with a different "kneitch") all that Mr. Liebler writes should apply to any Orthodox institution as well.

Schneur, what do you think about the fact that OK, OU in kashrus and many Jewish media publications are registered as non profit?

The wjc is far from the worst. Mr. Leibler's good friend Malcolm Hoenlein makes a cool million of non-profit money a year.

Lets Get real. Absolutely correct. By what measure would a salary of $300,000 not be fair. By the way how much does the president of the US make ?I guess being the leader of World jewry is more important than being the US president!
In the case of Honlein, and in the cases of Foxman term limits should be set on length of service. Its time for Foxman , Honlein and other s to retire and permit new blood to take over. After all one day they will be gone and obviously there are others who can also do the job.
It seems that about 20 years in the job is plenty. let them get a nice pension and let others serve.

Well the OU is a non profit as far as I know. What they need is full disclosure and transparency.Where does the supervision money go to ?
But the OU in terms of its executives has been infected by Charedi people and they brought their attitudes towards honesty and transparency with them.Weinreb is a fine man , but I have a hunch that the real leader is another rabbi whose goal is to curry favor in the eyes of the Charedi community.
The National Council of Young israel long an outstanding MO group has fallen prey to a group of Charedi types who have tried and succeeded in going into the Nursing home business and in real estate speculation under the Young Israel imprint.Essentialy they have destroyed the American ethos of this group and made it into another Brooklyn type synagogue organization .
For some reason only the FORWARD has written about this amjor scandal in the MO community.
As far as I know the OK is a private fro profit group.

The OK is a nonprofit. I looked once and saw it claimed the synagogue exemption, claiming to hold regular prayer services, etc.
