Well, reading Tzig's blog helped me realize how stupid my own 'koch' with the whole 'snag' topic was. Really, who gives a crap what some very unattractive dead old guy said about Lubavitch to some repressed housewife? Seriously! I suspect in due time Tzig will reach the same conclusion and devote more time to interesting history bits.

I say he must write about the NFL draft for a month. Like should JaMarcus Russell really get picked in the 1st round? Or better who is the favorite in the upcoming NYC marathon.

this is not about discussing the same subject all over again. Tzig is projecting his own insecurity unto the Rebbe and Lubavitch in general. don't forget, he is very much like a soviet citizen abroad, who must constantly and successfuly defend his convictions, lest he will not be allowed to travel abroad again.

faruq, this has long surpassed the BT condition and now is a full fledged mania. I mean he is not attacking his own Hungarians for whom he reserves a really warm feelings but he somehow picked up the traditional Lubavitcher jive about the snags (like mild Berls condition) and decided that he will devote his life to amplifying this regularly like a call to Allah from his digital minaret.

digital minaret, LOL.
don't forget, like every ideologically inclined chabad yungerman, who has, nebach, to work for a living, Tzig must experience strong longing/guilt feelings about his shaliach career that had never materialized. the digital minaret must provide some solace.

and its all about the anti me? real nebach (yenikas hahitzoiniyim). Tzig, give up snags and go to converting the Hungarians. Ha, ha...

The psychoanalysis of Tzig is very funny. In the sense of knowing that not one of the conditions ascribed to him is true.

berl, Tzig has always gotten fixed on a topic, posted on it for a while, and then moved on.

''who gives a crap what some very unattractive dead old guy said''
Nice.(I 'liked' how your rebbe was always careful not to say negative things rather using code words such as 'opposite of good' went he meant bad, seems it really rubbed off on Comrade Berl)

How can any Jew with a spark of holiness in their heart call a revered rabbi 'A dead old guy' is something I''ll need to learn chassidut to understand. Is this what Lubavitch teaches?

Touche' my Russian friend.

wow, I'm flattered, really. Not since I joined Lubavitch has so much discussion been made about me. In my defense may I say that it's tough to run a blog that tries to be unique in the topics it discusses. I can't discuss my repressions, nor much of my interests, simply because in the Hungarian society that I live in it simply won't fly, I'll be booed out of town. Please try and understand my situation and act accordingly.

The Dybbuk that has posessed me needs to be removed but it's very costly these days. A Exorcist needs to be contracted. Send your Tax deductible contributions to neveler@gmail.com.

Gravatar While in Siberia in 1901, Lev Bronstein wrote for a newspaper. Often, as is common practice for revolutionaries who can’t just publish their views in public, he wrote reviews and critiques of other works - and although he was only 20-22 he surprisingly reviewed many works that were diametrically opposed to his personal views, and was able to, and generally did, recognize the merits and even praised a number of those works.
This, he wrote, is essential for a man whose beliefs have been internalized – only if someone adopts the views of others he must attack any thought or view that may be in conflict with it – as this is due to one’s uncertainty in his own opinions. This behavior puts his conscience at ease. However, one who’s beliefs are his own can hear and recognize opposing views without fear of violating his yet undeveloped beliefs…
It’s tough to be a gevoreneh.
;-)

Gravatar Converting Hungarians is no simple task. They're not as gullible as the Russians are, (sorry) and they jump ship easily later on if they decide that it's too difficult to maintain that lifestyle without upsetting friends and family. If you want your parents to dish out the cash for a house or business, and they're still upset at you for joining those Lubavitchers 20 years ago, then the cash won't be there, and some people just can't stand the pressure. Also, there's the Shidduchim issue, where things get really tough, where most Jews would rather their kids dies an old maid/bachelor than marrying a Lubavithcer, that prospect scares many to drop Lubavitch and run back to their Hungarian hole.

I hope you understood my ramble.

Gravatar it's even tougher to be a Gevorener in a non-Lubavitcher society. The remarks, snide and condescending, and from whom? sacks of cr--, that's whom.

Gravatar Tzig, you do have a human side after all as once can see in your comments. Let is out more often that's all. And you know the freshhold has moved, there are things that I wrote at the beginning that would drive you or Berl up the wall but two years later everyone accepts the same for granted.

Gravatar Ok, there are countless blogs and websites almost entirely dedicated to anti-chabad talk, so what's wrong with one blog talking about 'snags'? I don't get it.

Gravatar Nickname,

Exactly the problem. The truth is, at least IMHO, that chareidi Yiddishkeit is generally all this way: As a rule, they define themselves by what they oppose, instead of by what they are. Had I not lived here, I never would have imagined that the vast majority of these folks are living these caricatured lives of uncertainty, constantly trying to figure out what they aren’t, since they have so long ago given up on being who they are.

Is there any greater tragedy than Torah Yiddishkeit becoming just a vast group of people in the dark, trying to figure out what the right thing is, and then attempting to do it? Yiddishkeit was never this way, and sadly this post-war-generation reality is so pervasive, and so institutionalized, that the end is nowhere in sight. And I really think that this is the underlying cause for all the ills that exist around us. All of them…

Gravatar The Tzig relates a fifth hand hate story about R'Yaakov Kamenetsky, what he does not and cannot realize is the story is really about a middle aged man who has still not got over his issues with his mom.Tzig relates to this because apparently he has some similar issues.

Gravatar Chabakuk
Nice long ramble.Reminds me of the farbrengens I attended where Lubavitchers projected their own ills onto the 'Snag, the bogey man responsible for all the ills of the world

Gravatar "there are things that I wrote at the beginning that would drive you or Berl up the wall but two years later everyone accepts the same for granted."

Tzemach, this is even more frightening to see you write. You write as a Meshichist would, that the anti-Meshichisten really agree with him. Or as Stalin proclaiming that the 5 year plan succeeded. Fight your battles, but without declaring premature victory.

Gravatar guravitzer, i have no battles or agenda per se. I write what I think and feel. The reaction or agreement is not my goal or interest. I am just stating the fact regarding the reactions.

Gravatar oh, so now you people are all a bunch of psychanalysts analyzing people you know nothing about? and you base this knowledge on what?!

Gravatar tzolkin

I relate a - second hand not fifth hand - story related to me by a man who loves his mother, who happened to have passed away already. He bears no ill will towards her, believe me, although judging from your comments you wouldn't understand not concept.

Gravatar Tzig, you must stop this favorite nonsense of yours about "people you know nothing about" both online and offline. you have a busy blog, on which you are both posting and commenting quite actively. i read your blog sometimes. and i do know you quite well from your expressions on the blog. and so do many other people who are reading your blog. they do know you.

Gravatar Tzolkin,
In case you arent the only one that missed my point, I'm not talking about "snags" at all. Can we work on the reading comprehension a little here folks?

Gravatar DELETED mean and hurtful

Edited By Siteowner

Gravatar Tzolkin, this is nonsense. Why not debate Tzig on his own blog?

Gravatar Hey

what did Tzolkin say about me?

Gravatar I did not say anything that terrible.
If you want to know:I said you are shallow and have an inability to see any depth.
The example:Your fifth hand story about R'Kamenetsky and the obssesive repeat posts show much more about your friend.Let's analyze:Your friend is badmouthing his mom to you, portraying her as basically a silly , 'nudgy' woman who was trying to control him.You tell us that he actually 'loved' her and bears her no ill.Actually, he sounds like he is very angry and still as a middle aged man had not reached closure with her, add to that that she recently passed on, which means these issues cannot be resolved. You choose to focus on the 'non' story of your tale:How do you want any honest readers to comment on a story that is so second hand an anonymous.
P.S I would have posted this on your site if you didn't censor

Gravatar Now you spread lies too? I may have censored 5 comments in the past YEAR! and those were personal attacks against people we know with names attached to them. So please don't lie about how I run my blog.

Gravatar "And you know the threshhold has moved, there are things that I wrote at the beginning that would drive you or Berl up the wall but two years later everyone accepts the same for granted."
TA, I am not so sure your observation is entirely accurate - the tone of your blog has changed dramatically since those days.
-

Gravatar I think that Tzig is trying to convince himself that he made the right choice by joining Chabad. Not being a sympathiser, but full fleged member. His posts read like that, trying to convince himself that every other yid is a bum etc. Dripping with hate (toned down of the late)

Gravatar still waiting for the day when some noodles, or brains will befall this blog, and it's commenters.

Gravatar Twisty

let me guess; you took Psych 101 in Touro, right?
