TNLR?? His name?
Where in the account does it state that Bar Kamza hated the host of the party? I know it says that there was Kamza who the host liked and Bat Kamza who the host hated, but where does it say about the feelings of Bar Kamza to the host?
Let us assume that Bar Kamza had animosity towards the host. Coulde we not suppose that upon seeing the invitation that Bar Kamza saw it as a peace offering? Was it not noble of Bar Kamza to accept the invitation? Most would have said, "I'm not going to that #*(*$'s party!" Yet, Bar Kamza took what he likely saw as an ovation to peace. When told to leave, Bar Kamza could have left in a rage. Yet, he was embarrassed and offered to pay for his meal. This shows that he truly thought he was welcome, and that peace was being made. When he was told to leave despite his offer, he then offered to pay for the entire feast. Is there not great nobility in this? Bar Kamza actions opened the door for peace to be made between to Jews. The actions of the host slammed that door shut. This is why the Beis Hamikdash was destroyed.
