Poignant and well put. These are the questions that this situation should inspire, not just in individuals but in those responsible for a system that may still work for some, but is clearly flawed. If the roshei yeshiva could start asking these questions to themselves and each other, lives would be saved. I see skepticism about this particular case (and pretty much all the others), yet noone seems to deny that this sort of crap goes on- which disturbingly showcases not just how rampant it is, but a despicable lack of communal outrage. This response gives me some hope- as opposed to the response of whatever chabad apologist writes this blog, which was fucked up and creepy

re: the accusation against the big bad system. it's actually nice to hear ones own thoughts on the lips of others [i'm sure i'm not the only one], but we must ask ourselves if we have a viable solution to offer or we can only sit and shoot criticism without any real alternative in mind a la kerry vs. bush on the war.
i think that many if not most of today's mashpie'im and roshie yeshivah are aware of the flaws in the system, they just [like everyone else] don't know what is to be done to rectify it [except, they don't get the satisfaction of pointing fingers at someone else...]
