Tzemach: Not everything is about money, and it is a chutzpah to demand that every Chaim-Beryl-Shmeril let you know who they are in real life in cyberspace. I agree with you - cyberspace has its limitations and not every emotion canbe savored or articulated "virtually"
but then again you don't want to come for shabbos so where does that leave us?
I have no problem revealing my ID to you offsite and I don't think it is at all a high price to pay for entree into your world (I would never call you anything behind your back that I wouldn't to your face)

Human contact is over-rated. Communication via elaborate symbols and laconic word-play is always preferable. Also good: sardonic comments and ungrammatical blog posts.
Not unrelated, I've been cyber-stalking a plump, short-haired (boyish yet heterosexual), coed of Bloomington University for five years now and I've never felt closer to anyone.
