A friend once found it necessary to reprove a young boy for misbehaving while in shul. The "young calf" (a term the Rebbe used during sicha on chinuch yeladim in reference to a child whose parents not only neglect their parental obligation to raise a mench but nuch erger they praise the child for his insolence) then ran to his father complaining of his ill treatment. The indignant father then charged at my friend shouting imprecations, all the while gesticulating in a threatening manner. "I am the father, not you, and you have no right to correct my son." My friend responded, "Oh, now you are the father but what were you when he was disturbing the entire shul." |
