very lame and a waste of money. why don't they also build a replica of the Reichstag in a Chabad House in Yerushalayim and then set it on fire? It's a PR humbug to make it into the newspaper.

Gravatar skin deep, indeed.

Gravatar DELETED go away, you have nothing to say.

Gravatar what the hell? let the man speak! would it make you feel better that he only comments on the amy winehouse posts?

Gravatar i would let him speak if he has what to say, but he doesn't. He is also an impostor. I don't want him on this site.

He is a shallow moron.

Gravatar you the boss, of course.
shallow is one thing, but i've noticed that some of the best thinking in this blog-world has been by "imposters."
this sounds too personal for me to question in a blog-world of relative anonymity.

Gravatar DELETED

Gravatar What's next? A replica of the ohel?

Gravatar maybe a replica of guravitzer....

Gravatar For those of you who do not follow this blog very well, I will tell you why Guravitzer sucks.

For over a year, he allowed everyone to think that he was somebody else. When he was "outed" as a certain person, TA deleted it to protect his anonymity. Later, Guravitzer said, "I believe I was once even outed on this blog," implying that the person he was outed as was his true identity.

In my book, that makes you a lowlife creep. How dare you play along and let people think that you are somebody else and use that person's reputation.

Gravatar TM, this point alone would not have been enough to ask him to leave, but ultimately my beef with this creature was always the same since before we knew who he might have been. He has noting to say. His comments are a reactive jive that betrays a shallow person without imagination. Its just not someone I would like to hang out with. Just another moron, but alas there are plenty of blogs for that.

Gravatar it's sad indeed that Berlin needs to import a bloated guy with so little to say except retorting to cliches to a place that once upon a time was packed with Jewish life. He has an interview at http://www.hagalil.com/deutschla...er/ teichtal.htm which painfully highlights just how little thought went into his words. I could have heard the exact same words from countless Sluchim around the word. "Without going into a lengthy autobiography, what caused you to making Judaism so central to your life?
Growing up in a Brooklyn Chassidic neighborhood obviously made Judaism the only choice. The strength and vitality in Judaism came from Rabbi Menachem Schneerson whom I merited to grow up in his circles." In other words except for the fact that he grew up in Crown Heights and probably couldn't find another way of making a living there is no other reason that he became a Rabbi. No personal story, no decision, no rotten Damascus road for him (apologies for the reference :).
No wonder he builds a Jerusalem wall. At the unveiling ceremony there will be representatives from Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Reuters and all other PR factories. Self congratulatory remarks on the Jewish side, sorry we killed your grandpas, but we are cool now, long way we have come - feelings from das deutsche Volk and their politicians, and shit these f. Juden are again here niceties from other groups. In practical terms it will do nothing, however. Can a Jew get a job in Germany with a kippa on his head, can he take off for Yom Tov from work, can he walk down the street? Is this Rabbi T. going to confront the 'Jewish leaders' in the Gemeinde about the corruption - the incredible corruption that went on decades??? I suspect I know the answer to the question already. Let him prove himself worthy of remembering his name. In the meantime I rather remember Albert Schweitzer or Leo Baeck when Berlin comes up in a conversation - despite our theological differences - than this self congratulating pisher.

Gravatar Yudi Teichtel is a devoted shliach - and has been devoted to the Rebbe and the Rebbe's work for all of his adult (and teenage) life. To imply otherwise about Yudi is simply character assasination, and is likely the outcome of a general anti-shlichus bias. Hey, KT, is every word you say profound? Likely, not. Smart people comment about ideas, not about other people. I like to read this blog because there are many smart people. You are not one of them. And yes, I know Yudi for twenty years, and am completely biased myself.

Gravatar I don't know R' Teichtal personally, but I think it is a monstrosity to build a replica of the kosel foe lots of $$, when there is NO Jewish infrastructure whatsoever in Berlin or the rest of Germany. Everything Jewish (Kollel,Yeshivah,Rabbis etc)is imported.BTW, Chabad does not have the best rep among the local Jews who are affraid ( rightly?) of unfriendly take-overs.
On the other Hand, the only ones doing anything in Germany are Chabad, Lauder and unfortunately the Reform. So go and figure...
Kushen T. you probably meant Albert Einstein and not Schweitzer, who was not Jewish.

Gravatar on both my cheeks,
Rabbi T. may be a nice guy in person, he may be a devoted sliach. I only know him from his public work and public utterances, and therefore I can only hold him up against this light. My criticism, harsh it may be, was not intended to be against him personally. I have lived in Germany myself once upon a time and thus I am acutely aware the numerous difficulties a Jewish person may face walking the the streets of Kreutzberg. I have many words which I am not proud of. However, Rabbi T and any other sliach is a public figure, mostly living on money received from the public; their acts, decisions, and words are therefore scrutinized by the Jewish and general public as well. If they are shallow, not inspiring, complacent, it will come back to haunt Jewish life and future in general. It will effect the Russian Jewish kid studying at TU in Berlin about to marry the Ukrainian shiksa he met at a concert in Waldbühne. While I do not personally hold a sliach responsible for the failure of a Sisyphusian task, we can and will scrutinize if the Sliach and Chabad 'system' failed to accomplish its self proclaimed goals, we will look at the achievements and short comings and reevaluate whether it deserves our mental, physical and financial support. As mentioned, I have many words I may not be proud of, however when these are uttered in the course of my work, they will be evaluated and held against me and definitely effect my professional success or failure. Every word I speak or write down in the course of my job, every action and relationship I have during my tenure, I am fully responsible for. I expect nothing less from any public figure.

Gravatar One of our shluchim built a shul to look like 770.

Gravatar Question:
What benefit do the Jewish people have from having their local Shliach features once a week on Shturem, COL, Shmais etc...? Rabbi Teichtel is a perfect example. Google search him name for these sites and there is a disproportionate amount of results compared to other shluchim in Germany, other Shluchim in Europe, Other Teichtel Shluchim around the world. So obviously someone at Chabad of Berlin is feeding these news sites with stories, Press Releases, pictures etc... For what purpose? Does it help German Jewry? Do they care what COL readers think?
On any given day half the news stories on COL are submitted by the story makers themselves who revel in being in the spotlight. There are over 3000 Shluchim around the world. If you rank them by the amount of stories they generate on COL, you would get a very depressing picture. probably the picture that most Mentalblog readers have by now. The Shluchim are a bunch of losers who couldn't get into any other job, and now get to make headlines more often than George W. That is probably true for those featured on COL. What about the 2900 others?

Gravatar Instead of his Pr stunt which implies that a Kotle can be built in of all places farsholtene Germany, the honored shliach should sit down and study his Zaide's Rabbi Yissocher Teichtal HAYAD sefer EM HABONIM SEMACH and draw some conclusions about the value of a jewish state and the uniqueness of Eretz Israel.

Gravatar Yoshe kalb, you said the following:

''On the other Hand, the only ones doing anything in Germany are Chabad, Lauder and unfortunately the Reform.''

It's not true at all, there is a yeshiva run by a Litvishe kiruv organization in Berlin that is attended by a relative of mine, they are doing a superb job.

Gravatar Henry, if you refer to the Yeshivah run by Spinner (besides the Chabad one),please be informed, that it is financed by Lauder, lives in splendid isolation and has (almost) no impact on the wider community.

Gravatar And Zalman the shikur is still homeless, along with the other handfull of chabad "schnurers"
They arent a tax write off so fuck em.
Thats the new "chabad"
