Unbelievable!...are you quite certain this is true? If yes it ought to be widely publicized. Really fascinating. Who woulda thunk.

im not sure why this is astory , familieas have been hijacking and shaping writers legacies forever , its par for the course. in addition i never got the feeling she was distancing grade, from the yiddish aspect , but rather from his objective look at orthodox versus haskalah , she repeatedly mentions ( i cant remember in exactly which book ) his idea of universal humanism and his hate towards any type of of orginized movement, be it religion etc.. which is almost laughable to anyone who has read grade, and appreciates him most as an equal opportunity offender and defender

It is not Bashevis who has prevented Grade’s work from being available in print. He may even have forseen the situation. In his short novel “Di rebetsin” (the rebbetsin), Grade tells the story of an intelligent but troubled and ultimately destructive wife who ruins the career of the husband she fiercely defends against any imagined rivals
