Hey, Tzemach never knew you were blogging once again.
get the fire on by doing something on Krinsky being one of the most influential Rabbis??? .
I think that should rile it up a bit. some old flame to warm things up again.

Tzemach,
fact is you're way too intellectual for us common Russians.
Aint no one interested in the size of Molecules or how fast boats go or even how the Czar lost his grip.
It all about the fight now.
Here's some philosophy for you.
forget the yesterday and tomorrow who knows, make the best, enjoy the now.
author unkown.

If you look at Tzigs blog, the only topic that gets them going is the "politics" of this and that.
Tzemach - you are stuck to them forever, might as well make the best of it -- it terms of the action it generates.

The Rebbe mentioned it many time, i don't think that it was in comparison to the Holocaust, but the Rebbe would quote the gemoro "ilmole nagdudu..." That if Chanania Mishael & azariah would have been tortured rather then thrown in the fire, they wouldn't have withstood the nisayon... and the rebbe would go on and on describing the pain of Russian Jewry, fighting his tears, sometime allowing himself to cry publicly.

this is one of the most abused cliches.
one inconvenient fact is that the life under the Czar war unbearable. and the anger that the significant majority of young jews bore against the government and the rabbis was tremendous. remember nachmanson and lulov?

qualify "much worse".
young jewish blood that was heating up the revolution, had no idea of the life that would follow up. "worse in the CCCR" is not the point. granted, the bolsheviks were not responsible for that change, but after the downfall of the Czar, young jews flocked to the centers of learning and for the first time in russian history they got opportunities to advance culturally and economically. so, the rabbis who saw no PAIN of the russian jewry before the revolution, should not have cried their eyes out after it.

Tzig, don't get excited. google translate would not help you with cultural references. that is what quotations marks are for. but i am honored that you spent time and effort.
