I had a bad experiance with Ohel's domestic violence counsler Joan Hertz. I felt they were only out for the gov funding. Did anyone have similar experiances?

The farming out of children to foster homes is a big buisness. Children are removed from their real parents on charges of abuse and farmed out to couples that make a living off caring for them. There is a lot of money involved here and the lawyers make sure to fight the real parent to keep the children in these income producing homes. I have seen people live off this alone as their sole buisness.

Alan. You make me sick. You are disgusting. You should be ashamed of yourself. You have no idea what you are talking about.

We have been fostering for 8 years. For the two year old baby that we have been taking care of since she was ten weeks old, we receive about $500 per month. We spend much more than that, I can assure you. (And, I don't need the money, BH). In addition, my wife has sacrified over $30,000 a year in income in order to take care of the baby.

If not for OHEL, this baby would be in the hands of a non Jewish couple. You have no idea about the mesiras nefesh of the social workers who make very little money but are deicated beyond belief.

As for taking these children from their parents, the three children we have fostered for long terms had parents who were completely disfunctional. They were saved by being taken form their parents.

Tzemach Atlas, I don't believe that number but, in any event, it's a third of that in New York.

How about all the famalies that were destroyed. Children taken away whenn they should not have been. Social workors ruining marriages because of their incompetence, men put on drugs to keep them in houses and the list goes on. we need oversight.

Ohel does some good work, but I am personally aware of cases where their behavior has been criminal.

You are closely connected with them in a good way, so it may be hard for you to believe there is a dark side to them as well. I understand that, but it cannot be ignored, it must be addressed. Since they are not addressing it and their PR machine is charging ahead and continuing to paint their perfectly glorious and rosy pictures, others are forced to bring it up.

Hopefully Ohel will clean its own house so such won't be necessary, but if they don't, let them know, like it or not, their free ride is over.

My observations suggest the opposite.

I have seen many children saved from very disfunctional families. I have seen Ohel staffers try to avoid medicating kids at akll costs (but, sadly, medication is often necessary).

All you are doing is spreading baseless inuendo.
