I searched Rabbi Yehuda Teichtal and amazing three or four google pages are just about this stupid wall. May be the publicity worth it after all?

And alas, what could benefit the Berlin Jews at this point anyway?

I am not an expert on Berlin Jewry, nor is my purpose to belittle Rabbi Teichtel. I don't know him, and I don't really care if he enjoys publicity. My rant was directed at the perception of shluchim as a result of Teichtel and his likes. [the part that you chose not to quote in the post...].
BTW try Teichtel with an E. try טייכטל there is a lot more out there...

Zuravitzer, i didn't quote the part about shluchm who found nothing better to do deliberately. I do not hide my strong opinions about the Shlichus or COL Inc.. But this particular description irks me since my days in Russia, when all things frum were considered parasitic with this particular undertone. Who am I to say what is a good and what is a bad way to make a kopke...

Building a replica of the Kosel in Berlin ... ma lekohen bebeis hakevaros. What an insult (patch in panim) to the victims of the Nazi terror ! Why not build a replica of 770 in Berlin instead ?? Ora musem in memory of the rebbe's student days there.

What a great idea! Perfect subject. Great venue. Well executed (no pun intended - really).

oops... I was too hasty in my praise. I just read this:
"The complete replica, located in the center's entryway, will also include identical plants sprouting from the cracks."
How stupid!

complete with a white dove nibbling...

Hey about about building the Bais hamikdash ... in Berlin !

Berel CH
You are such a boring 'tochas'.
Crawl back under ......
Oh, and why isn't such a 'talented' tochas like you not on shlichus??

one can start from the wall and then build the entire Beis Shlishi. Complete with plants in the cracks. Morons!

If teichtel would be a shliach in Chicago you think he would do less self promotion?

Gravatar This unguided Shliach has given me a new applicable pshat in the Shvuo of "Sheloh Ya'aloo Chomo"

Hashem Yerachem.

Gravatar Masbirovski,
comparing rabbis to salespeople points out precisely where something with this experiment went wrong. You may get the PR but you will also turn off countless Jews from Yiddishkeit, don't forget that some can't stand salespeope, not everyone is an AMWAY boy.
On another note, in most part of the world - may Hashem bless those areas where this is not the case - you put yourself in physical danger for openly touting that you are a Jew.

Gravatar 1) Rabbi tiechtel, does amazing work in Berlin, having created a highly succesfull gan, school shul and chabad center, and brought many people to Yidishkiet

2) as in matzah bakerys, bbq's etc, the reason a shliach does it becouses it piques the interest of people, therby bringing them closer to Yidishkiet. Imagine how many jews going into the chabad house will put in teffilin becouse of the kosel replica

3) the reason shluchim put themselves on col shmais etc, is usally (at least in my case) to create awarness of what one is doing, in order that one can raise funds from lubavitchers. perhaps not totaly puremotives, but money is needed to run things

Gravatar The optimist and the pessimist went into business and the first month they did more business than they projected they would do in the first year. Said the pessimist to his partner, if the customers keep coming we will soon have to replace the hinges on the front door.

Every event can be spun negative if one wants to. Yudi Teichtel wants to attract attention (customers, clients, Yidden) to his activities in Berlin. Did he install a larger-than-life replica of Melech HaMoshiach? A giant straight-branched Menorah, or some other possibly-offensive partisan CHABAD symbol? He chose to put a koysil in his shule. One symbol to my knowledge all Jews identify with. Sorry he couldn’t rebuilt the Beis HaMikdosh Bimkomo, but he lives and works in Berlin. And to you Zionists, his replica will most likely will inspire a few people to go to Israel and see the real one for themselves.

As for his craving publicity ... maybe it’s just for contact with other Lubavitchers, Shluchim? Maybe it’s lonely and desolate to be out in Berlin for so many years. Maybe he needs the recognition/validation of the people he thought were on his team.

Gravatar All the monday morning quarterbacks sitting on this blog, dissecting Teichtel's every action while scratching their Mechokek, should get away from the computer and spend some time with this man who has been hugely successful in all his endeavours.
Btw, there is already a memorial for the Rebbe's days in Berlin, unveiled about 5 years ago and looked after by the city of Berlin.
I think that one of the greatest measures of his success is the presence of a Misnagdish Kolel in Berlin
