I don't see why you feel the need to 'justify' the perversion of the Roman Catholic Church but have a hard time understanding this ill man's urges.

Perhaps he was a regressed offender who are primarily attracted to their own age group but are passively aroused by minors, so just because he was getting play at home (was he? do we know anything else about his marital life) doesn't automatically negate the desire for children.
