Even though I was consciously listening for the name "Benedict" during the Eucharistic prayer, I was still shocked when I didn't hear the name "John Paul". It will take some getting used to.
That being said, I, too, smiled when I heard the name "Benedict".

Same here. As I followed the Eucharistic prayer in my mind, I still expected to hear John Paul. It was pretty cool to hear the priest say "Benedict."
Mass was celebrated by a Polish priest and English was obviously not his first language. Every time he mentioned the new pope, he called him "Benedict Sixteen," instead of "Benedict the Sixteenth," which also caused me to smile.
