Gravatar Good place to start. They are not exactly known for their orthodoxy and have conflicted with Archbishop Burke in the past. They started a school for training some laity in the duties of priests, something that the Archbishop had said was unecessary there. Eight priests from the diocese particpated in this without getting any permission.

Gravatar Jeff,

My understanding was that one of the first things Archbishop Burke did was start to straighten out the seminary (and has been quite successful at it considering the relatively short amount of time he's been there).

In fact, I was really impressed during the election cycle; a bunch of the seminarians showed up at a public Kerry event wearing pro-life t-shirts, etc., and were forbidden entrance.

It seems to me that you wouldn't find that kind of heart in a very troubled seminary, but then again…

Gravatar I'm just wondering how they would find those "evidence of homosexuality" - like look at their CD collection? Hhmm... Bette Middler, Barbara Streisand, Judy Garland... okay, you're out. Or DVDs - "Gypsy Rose", "Sound of Music"... GAY ALERT! Maybe look at the magazine in their bedside table: Martha Stewart and Vogue!!! NO!!! Or maybe, they just have GAYDAR.

I'm just having a little fun here, as I find this whole endeavor a perfect skit for SNL... No disrespect for the Gay Busters!

Gravatar LOL Humble.

There's a post on Fumare which remarks about the 'evidence' factor and the poor choice of wording.

Gravatar Yeah, Rick, we have the same demented sense of humor.

You might want to check my latest post on Her Hotness blog. I was having a wee bit of fun, but that's only after one glass of wine, so the humor is not entirely demented yet.

Gravatar I think that seminary is run by the Dominicans so it isn't directly under his control. The blogger at Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam has said in the past that the Aquinas Institute is wildly heterodox and that the good Bishop Burke would love to do something about it, but has said he didn't want to get into "theological mud wrestling" with them. The Aquinas Instintute has definately not been respectful towards the Bishop's wishes.

Gravatar Thank's Jeff. I didn't think of checking with Larry on it. Come to think of it, I know of frequent visitor here who would probably know something about how things are there (possibly first-hand knowledge). If he sees this, he might be inclined to e-mail me about it [hint].
