I, too, steer clear of political blogs, even if seem to echo my own beliefs. It's just not interesting.
I'm drawn to "slice of life" blogs where the author infuses a bit of wry humor in their posts. Maybe a few pics and audio posts to shake things up. I enjoy unique observations of ordinary circumstances.
I quickly get bored with blogs that are all about whining and ranting. Personally, I rant and whine a bit on my blog, but I generally approach my posts as exercises in writing and observation of daily life. If I can make someone laugh, it's an added bonus.

I probably hit on politics a lot, but I usually avoid any blog that is just a one track song over and over.

Maybe the journalist and political blogs are the ones that are second class and stuck in ruts!

I agree with Amanda. I blog for me. I blog to release the things that are pent (is that a word?) up inside of me whether it is funny or sad because maybe just maybe it makes someone (me) feel less alone. I know that was the case when Shawn died.
It's a way for my friends to keep up with me. Especially since I will be moving soon. I don't care what Time magazine says about it.

I read about...20, 30 blogs? None of them are political.
