Gravatar Entirely to geeky for me. However,

I want my new phone (as I tamp my little feet like Sam Cody does when he wants a greenie)

Gravatar Comment reference this post:
I have the Tilt, and my PTT button has been 'hacked' so that I use it as my close button. I sent you the files and instructions via PM.

Comment reference previous post:
If you are liking the GPS feature, make sure and check out the Windows Live Search Mobile (http://livesearchmobile.com/) and GPStoday (http://www.geoterrestrial.com/gpstoday/)

Windows LSM is like the Google ap you mentioned, but I think like it a little better

GPStoday is a Today screen plugin that .... (see the linked page)

Gravatar Fear not, I will be getting into all the tweaks and must-have apps - including LSM - in my next installment. We are far from done here I was just too tired to get into the software.

Gravatar I was able to disable PTT, a big relief cause I would grab the phone and launch the useless thing by pushing the button by mistake. If you don't use PTT you will want to do the same. I assume assigning anything else to the button would cause the same problem, so I'm fine with no function.I also hacked the processor speed and doubled it, I think that helps a bit with the touch-flo slow.

Gravatar I have my Tilt set to lock all buttons when "off", so hitting any buttons accidentally doesn't worry me.

Gravatar Wow - All Geeky Geeks all in a row. I so wish I understood you all!

Gravatar Can someone please tell me the difference for a Fuze owner between the (a) GPS plug-in and (b) the GPS full-screen app? Thanks very much.

Gravatar Joe, I've done time in Stillwater, America, too. Four years, 1983-87. It's the only place I've been where s-h-*-* is a two-syllable word! Very nice people, though.

Are you going to elaborate at all on how to reprogram the PTT button? That thing is just plain aggravation.

Also, can you recommend a fix for non-working Opera browser? Neither it nor the 'Browser' button bottom right on the Internet screen works.

Thanks in advance. - Warren Miller

Gravatar Warren:
Yes, I will be covering the PTT remap in my 3rd installment. It's not hard but there are more steps than I want to go through. The Body Glove snap on case I bought makes all of the buttons recessed so it's nearly impossible to accidentally push any of the buttons now.

A plugin is usually something that displays information on the Today screen (i.e. a weather app that displays the current temperature but not the full forecast).

Do you have a Fuze/Touch Pro? Is that where you're having difficulty with Opera. If so, you might try a hard reset (reset it back to out of the box condition). If not, try reinstalling the application - that's all I can suggest. You could also try searching http://forum.xda-developers.com

Gravatar Great review!
Put a link love in my Mobile Spoon blog:

Gravatar Thanks, Gil! You also helped me set a record. This is the first post I've ever written that got double-digit comments. Yours was #10.

Gravatar Screen protector (BIG plus to AT&T for including this)

Doesn't a screen protector come in bundled with the phone usually? Dunnow about carrier branded phones but all HTC phones that I've seen (I own one) which aren't carrier branded come with screen protector & a case for phone. Mine came with belt-clip protective case & car charger as well.

Gravatar In "Cons" you left out the most annoying thing about the phone of all... the D-pad is worthless. It is so easy to accidentally push adjacent buttons when trying to push Left and Right... especially since the "sweet spots" aren't equidistant from the center button. This is aggravating me SOOOO much.

Gravatar Is there a "extended"battery for this phone from HTC or OEM?

Gravatar @Jason - Agreed. Someone posted information about having found the "sweet spots" for left and right on the D-pad but I still avoid using it if I don't absolutely have to.

@Alfonso - If an extended battery does not currently exist, I am sure one will very soon.

Gravatar Just bought a fuze and I'm anxiously awaiting shipment. It was hard to pass up a WM6.1 phone with all the great features. I've never owned a Smartphone before but I do own a Dell Axim X51V, although I unfortunately never get the full features out of the PDA since I can't stand carrying it around with me everywhere. Getting the smartphone will solve that problem and I will actually be able to use one the way it was meant to be used. Now, if only amazon shipped on the weekends....
I hangout at http://www.HTCFuze.org see ya there.

Gravatar The display models at AT&T stores for the Fuze are pretty slow, and make the phone seem very sluggish, yet I hear the phone is pretty fast in terms of loading its own applications. Touchflo3d also wasn't as quick nor as responsive as I've heard as well. Out of the box, is the Fuze generally sluggish, or was there just problems with the display models?

Also, way too many people I know are suggesting the iPhone over the Fuze, including the store workers themselves, and a big issue seems to be Windows Mobile. What would be the pro's and con's of Winmo for a Winmo noobie? For those that own both the iPhone and the Fuze, what do you like and dislike about each phone?

Share your opinion with me at http://www.HTCFuze.org take care.

Gravatar Great review, and very fair to all the little pluses and minuses of the phone. My first Fuze was stolen. So I spent a week with the iPhone before returning it today for a new Fuze.

My short impression of the iPhone was that it was WinMo 3.0. The things I like about it: it was thinner; it scrolls VERY well (dragging my finger up and down just seemed to know where I was going better than the Fuze). That's it.

The camera sucks! I was amazed at how much it sucked. No zoom. No controls. Really terrible. I found the button placement on the screens un-natural. I even own a Mac, and I was always looking for the "cancel", "ok", "search" or whatever button. I wished for just one go to place for the "happen now" button.

But the number one reason, I returned that shiny boy? No copy / paste. You can't highlight text. I detest the SMS keyboard that doesn't rotate, and I always made typos. But can I highlight that last comment and start over? NO! I don't even care if that is coming on 3.0; whoever made the decision to go forth with that non-feature is an idiot, and I don't need idiot products.

Yeah, the people at the store literally laughed when I told them the Fuze was better, my Fuze **which reads my SMS messages to me in the bluetooth oh I missed your voice**. BTW, if someone tells you the iPhone is the best, ask them what their last phone was. 70% of the people I ask were using a Razor or V620. This is their first SMARTPHONE. They would be excited about anything!!
