My husband was at the convention in Chicago in 1968 and he said it was so surreal, it felt as if they were living in a communist country. Now this fascism raises it's ugly head again.
I heard there was some of this stuff at the DNC convention, too, but not as blatant.
I hope no one is seriously injured, it's bad enough that our Constitution has taken a beating, we don't need our citizens to take an additional beating.
Great post, kiddo!

The whole argument against communism was never against Marxist ideals, which when you think about it are not far from the ideals of democracy. The idea of a workers' paradise should after all appeal to the vast majority of people, just not those who pay the workers. What propelled the anti-communist cold war rhetoric was the totalitarian dictatorship of Stalin, which may have paid lip service to Communism as a bid for justification, but never gave a rat's ass about 'The People ' - in fact the People's Party soon became as privileged and elitist as any monarchy had ever been.
You see much the same thing in America's ruling class today, who use the language and labels of democracy and freedom to promote their polar opposites.
