LMAO I have nothing really to contribute but being humble, likable, and good-looking goes along way in sales.
Before I saw the light and joined the ranks of the prima donna professor class, I spent a serious number of years working in the real world.
Chets are everwhere, not just investment banking. It used to frustrate me no end to see people I perceived to be idiots to succeed based on Chetness.
Eventually I came to realize that in the real world people skills are extremely important. The founder of one of the companies I worked for said (ad nauseum) that he built his company on "other peoples' money (OPM)" and "other peoples' brains (OPB)." He was right, because at least initially, he had neither. What he did have was the ability to tap into OPM and OPB. Chets are good at that.
As I see it those of us who are not Chets have three choices:
1. Get over it.
2. Work on the people skills.
3. Become professors and spend the rest of our lives sneering at those rich bastard Chets.
