Bark!

Gravatar Hey JJ, didn't you get the memo? It said that the Wasilla Hillbilly (aka Bible Spice) and Joe T. Plumb Line are the GOP ticket for 08!

Gravatar What are we going to do now? At least Parliament sits in a couple of weeks so that should generate some giggles.

Caribou Barbie will be the best dressed woman in Wasilia. I saw the clip of Michelle Obama when she was on Jay Leno a week or so ago. Jay asked her about the clothing issue and she replied that Democrats buy their own clothes. She does bring the funny.

Gravatar So have any bookies started offering odds yet on whether or not her daughter ends up getting married?

Would it be an appropriate gesture of conciliation if Obama offered her a government-paid abortion?

Gravatar I hear ya, sister! What is there to do? Charest's called an election for Quebec, but unless the women's movement there flags something for me, well, I dunno. Isn't BC having an election sometime, too? Or is that wishful thinking?

We have an NDP leadership contest going on here and so far the right wing of the party has put forward the most right wing of the bunch -- the old has-been, Dwain Lingenfelter, a sell out to oil and gas, an Old Boy, and a nasty pro-nuker who should really be a Lib but the Libs here are dead. I wish Nettie would run again. Sigh.

What's a gril to do?

Gravatar I like what Jon Stewart said on his show: "They're grifters!"

Gravatar regina mom - The Wasilla Hillbilly and Joe the Dumber in '12! If only! The material would be endless.

Gravatar Regina Mom... BC election, by the so-called fixed election date law, is set for May '09. However, some in the pundit class are speculating that with the BC legislature currently prorogued Premier Drinky McDriver may call a snap election sometime shortly after the Vancouver civic vote.

Campbell's BC Liberals are flailing in the polls right now. NDp leads the polls for the first time in a decade.

That Vancouver civic vote is set for Nov. 15th and could likely see a former NDP MLA in city hall. Would be supreme justice if both outgoing mayor Sullivan and Premier Campbell were out of office when the big Owelympic hoopla comes to town.

Gravatar DD - Michelle Obama will be an awesome FL... she seems very personable, has a great sense of humour etc. Wow. First Lady Michelle Obama -- I still can't believe it

The election might be over, but there's still lots of potential humour in watching the right-wing blogs go into a collective nervous breakdown You should have heard Rush this morning, he was off his rocker.

Gravatar RB - It might be bad form to offer her a taxpayer funded late-term abortion... she must be almost ready to drop that little froggie.

I had forgotten about the impending nuptials -- I bet she won't get married. The baby will be born and quietly given up for adoption.

Or maybe not... it depends how much of a political future Palin thinks she's got. She's probably safe up in Alaska, they just re elected Ted Stevens and he's on his way to jail.

Gravatar regina mom - One upcoming task for us will probably be another version of Bill c-484 -- I have no doubt they're already lobbying anti-choice MPs trying to get someone to take another swing at it, sooner or later.

Gravatar BeneD - "Grifters" I didn't think Stewart was old enough to know that word, that's an oldie.

Gravatar Dr. Frink - Oh no, you don't think he'll call an election for before Christmas, do you? Everyone is election'd out. I'd rather wait til May.

I have to catch up on BC politics, I really haven't been following it at all.

Gravatar You'd think the right-wing blogs would have had time to get used to it. They had no reasonable expectation of victory.

But I've noticed a willful ignorance on the part of many - not all - a refusal to accept legitimate news sources.

Gravatar I caught some Republican post-vote commentary on As It Happens tonight, featuring locals at some tavern. One guy (all three interviewees from Ohio were male) said that Palin brought legitimacy to McCain's campaign by representing core Republican values. McCain was too liberal and Obama is extreme left wing. Good gawd, these people are deranged.

Gravatar JJ, more likely late January, early February.

ps - and even Rafe Mair says he can't vote for neo-liberals like Campbell. Says he will vote, for the first time in his life, for the provincial NDP. Shocking, non?

Gravatar Hey, JJ! Here's something brebis found that could keep us laughing for the two weeks until the House sits!

Gravatar RB - Right up until Obama took Ohio, some of the bozos at FD were insisting that McCain would "pull this out"

You'd think they would have known there was Big Trouble weeks ago when so many Republicans started deserting McCain. The GOP base respresents less than 30% of total voters and it isn't exactly an expanding demographic. So when moderates start leaving it, it is just simple math that failure is imminent.

That's the problem with these people, they think they're so much more significant than they actually are.

Gravatar Beijing - US conservatives are a lot more right wing than ours, and the religious right is a way bigger force there. They respect idiots like Palin, because she's "one of them" -- ignorant, arrogant, anti-intellectual -- even though fiscally, she's not that conservative.

Obama isn't what I'd characterize as a "lefty", but he's a lot more "left" than the Nazis currently occupying the White House. (I know it's bad form to say so: being astute enough to recognize this apparently means I'm "disconnected", but fuck it.)

Gravatar regina mom - Didn't know Africa was a continent, not bad Now that the election's all over, the knives will really start coming out. There should be some good stories from disgruntled ex-campaign staffers.

Gravatar Dr. Frink - I'm not surprised Rafe doesn't want to vote for them, the Liberals support the salmon farming industry. One of Rafe's pet peeves, IIRC.

Gravatar Oh, it gets better, JJ! At one point during NaziCon '08, a couple of McCain campaign staffers (Steve Schmidt and Mark Salter) went to brief Palin, only to have her walk in wearing nothing but a towel, as if she had just gotten out of the shower!

And then there was Obama ranting about "fucking light bulbs" during prep for one of the debates during primary season. Tons of fun for everyone!

Gravatar There ain't no way Caribou Barbie will be goin' back to Wasilla. She has tasted the good life. "...swimming pools, movie stars..."* I see her as a talk show host at Fox in the near future.

And the $200,000 in clothes -- is that a taxable benefit?

*Beverly Hillbillies theme song

Gravatar JA - Heehee. The campaign notes are coming out now, and Palin promises to be the gift that keeps on giving.

I LOL'd at Obama's lightbulb rant

Gravatar good old fallout. perhaps palin will win a temporary place on saturday night live?

coming at ya from beautiful campeche, mexico. i'm battered from the road but alive and kicking :D

Gravatar SQ - Taxable benefit? It might be considered Capital Gains up here, but there are lots of ways to write off CG Tax.

Gravatar HI SCOUTIE!!! I hope you're having a blast and getting lots of pics down there... reminds me of my own Mexican road trip 25 years ago (omg, it's been that long??)

Did you drive through the Wall of Water on the Baja? (If you did, you'll know what I'm talking about.)

Gravatar I guess we won't find out if they're a taxable benefit.

a Republican party lawyer is reportedly heading to Alaska to inventory and retrieve the clothes still in Palin's possession.

Gravatar RB - Priceless, just blogged it. GOP lawyer Oh, geez. I wonder how much of the stuff will have gotten lost by the time the lawyer gets there?

Gravatar She's probably selling it off at eBay.

Gravatar Or at the Legion, as part of the Meat Draw
