Bark!

Gravatar Can we now put Palin on a rapidly shrinking ice floe and never see her again?

McCain's ear creases said "Palin will be president cause I have coronary artery issues."

I guess we're allowed to say that now.

Gravatar Never thought I would be alive to see the day

Gravatar Someone go kick the people at http://isobamapresidentyet.com/

Gravatar WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Cheers!!!

Gravatar Made my day. Is that sound I hear, heads exploding over at FD? Those nitwits thought that McLame & Bible Spice where going to win. Too bad, so sad.

Gravatar Gigi - I bet she's on a plane back to Alaska right now One thing about her, she certainly added an element of humour to the campaign. Holy crap!

Gravatar FF - I hesitate to say this lest I be accused of koolaid drinking, but I am overyjoyed, I've still got tears in my eyes.

I'm old enough to remember the civil rights movement, at least the tail-end of it, and never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I'd live to see this day. I'm so proud of our American cousins right now.

Gravatar Gigi - What an odd site. I did a whois on it, but I couldn't really find out much about it. It was registered last June. Huh? Strange.

Gravatar Dr. Prole - Ya done good, kid ya done good. Cheers to you & everyone else who worked so hard to make this happen.

Gravatar phatbiker - It's pretty sad over at FD, they're all getting drunk and commiserating

Their side had 8 years to get it right and they fucked it up royally. Time for the grownups to take over

Gravatar Happy happy happy, joy joy joy. Now can we just send that Palin bitch out on a chunk of ice and get on with our lives?

Gravatar Happy is right. Did you ever think they would get Georgie out of the white house? For that fact alone, I'm in shock.

Gravatar Suddenly, I feel like I been rode hard and put away wet. I'm exhausted! And all I did was watch it happen!

Had CNN feed up on the computer and watched McCain's concession speech and Obama's victory dance.

McCain was more gracious and classy in his concession than the campaign could have told he'd be. Palin, mercifully, was silent. Not only did they finally find a muzzle to fit her, but they got a see-through one, to boot!

Obama was...Kennedyish...if I can make an awkward comparison. And, since I was a witness to the first American Camelot, I find it's an easy comparison to make. And ol' Silver Joe was grinning so hard, I thought the top of his head would fall off!

Only one downside: Stone fox she might be, but now we gotta put up with the constant watch-and-report on Michelle's wardrobe, Michelle's hair, Michelle's jewelery, Michelle's parenting, Michelle's diet, Michelle's...oy, already...

Gravatar Don't worry, Palin's not gone. She'll turn up as some insipid talk show host or similar.
I'm currently feeling some apprehension over Obama's personal safety. Those fucking crazy-ass "deliverance" apes down there are plotting as we speak.

Gravatar I think you'll like this post, JJ.

Gravatar Whoops -- wrong link.

Here's the correct one.

Gravatar Chimera - It was a bit of the old McCain in his concession speech, the McCain I might have voted for, were I eligible (and if he'd run on the Dem ticket, as he's said to have contemplated in 2004).

Gravatar LH - Never mind that, she's being groomed by the extreme right of the GOP as their candidate for 2012. We can only hope

Gravatar Mattt - I liked both posts, a lot.

I really don't understand the people who slag Obama because he's not left enough. The US is a conservative country, and someone who governs from the center is, in that hard-right nation, a progressive.

And as you said in your post, Obama's victory (especially in such an absolute rout) represents the end of the Kingdom of Fear Americans have been imprisoned in for the last 7 years. As Sully says, "Know hope".

Gravatar He's left enough for two regular posters at FD to say (NOT rhetorically!) that he's the Anti-Christ.

Hilariously, one of them was willing to be interviewed by the CBC as a McCain volunteer provided they not say she's a racist for supporting McCain. Apparently she's NOT worried about being thought a raving lunatic.

Gravatar RB - This is basically how I know Obama's a centrist, probably in the Bill Clinton style -- FDers think he's too far to the left, and some on this side think he's too far to the right.

I don't think too many FDers are worried about being thought of as raving lunatics. They have no idea

Gravatar Oh my god... I've just had the time of my life - a lot of laugh-out-loud moments for sure.

Wondering what I'm doing? Reading the "what went wrong" thread over at FD! Seriously - I never stop there, and I don't know why! It's so rich in comedic material!!

Are these people for real? Some of the jew comments are classic! Did you know that they're ALL (the jews) packing up and leaving america now that obama won? Neither did I....

Well worth the time...

Gravatar JJ, it's worse than that. They think they're the only sane ones. It's sort of the Lake Wobegon effect taken to its logical extreme.

Gravatar Ooh! I just had a thought. Anyone want to check and see how Suzie-All-Caps is taking the news?

Gravatar JAB: No. Thanks but no thanks.

Gravatar oooooooo---
IS she being groomed by the far- right wingnuts for 2012? already?

mebbe she'll go shopping and bankrupt them before they can do any more damage!
xxx
meanwhile-- is this what the people in the streets of Paris were feeling when the Allies arrived at the end of WWII?
I'll bet so-----

Gravatar joe - I read that thread too, as well as a few other ones that were absolutely hilarious.

It's hard to believe they have no idea that "what went wrong" is that their side had 8 fucking years to do it right, and fucked it up royally in every way possible. THAT's what went wrong

Gravatar JA - The Lake Woebegon Effect that explains it.

All indications are that SUZANNE isn't taking it too hard. Well, other than this sentence, which seems a little disturbed:
"I’m sure all the feminists are happy that soon it will be legal to stab a half-born baby in the head and suck his brains out."

Huh!?? And she somehow ended up getting nominated in the Best Feminist Blog category of the Canadian Blog Awards??

Gravatar two crows -- I've seen it discussed. Bill Kristol and a few others at NRO are all for it, they think she can be the Leader Of The Free World. She was all Bill Kristol's idea in the first place, he *discovered* her.

FWIW, I hope she does run. She'd never make it -- she'd get her clock totally cleaned during the primaries. But it would be fun to watch. She's been the source of much amusement the last few weeks

Gravatar All indications are that SUZANNE isn't taking it too hard. Well, other than this sentence, which seems a little disturbed:
"I’m sure all the feminists are happy that soon it will be legal to stab a half-born baby in the head and suck his brains out."

Boy, she sure has this obsession with stabbing babies in the head. I can't think of any other reason why she would cling to it like a dog with his favorite chew toy. That sort of thing strikes me as theater of the absurd (Er, excuse me - theatre of the absurd. ;-P).

Gravatar JA - To paraphrase, she bitterly clings to religion and visions of fetuses stabbed in the head.

Theatre/theater of the absurd or not, it's pretty disturbing. This is propaganda in its basest form. It's the kind of language that pushes the nutcases over the edge and inspires them to shoot doctors, bomb clinics, or worse. The fact that the procedure she describes will never be legal is secondary.

Gravatar True. It's kind of like the Two Minutes' Hate of the Big Brother Is Watching Your Uterus movement.

(And to think, I only read 1984 for the first time in August 2007.)
