If you want to have a serious debate, you can't be tossing around troll-speak like \"Nazi\" and expect to be taken seriously. Take that over to DKos or wherever you go to shit-disturb. I'm giving you a pretty wide berth here because I'd like to see the discourse between right & left evolve past the gutter level it's sunk into the last few years, even if it's just in this little venue. \"Nazi\" isn't helpful.

Ahmadinejad was given a forum to speak primarily to show people that he's not just an image on the TV screen, there really are holocaust-deniers, gay-bashers etc that run entire countries. The students were pretty shell-shocked afterwards -- so obviously that hadn't really sunk in until they actually got to see him speak in person. Mission accomplished. Too many people look at the world as a big video game, and the reality doesn't sink in until they've seen it right in front of them. Anyway, free speech -- even for douchebags. I thought you were a big Free Speech guy?

Silly melodrama, I think not. Almost 90 women in Nicaragua have died because they couldn't get abortions, because of church teachings. Doctors won't perform even the abortions that the church is OK with (ectopic pregnancies etc) because the policy is unclear and the church doesn't go out of its way to clarify things. All doctors know for sure is that the church says abortion is wrong, so they err on the side of caution and don't perform any. And women die.

The AIDS crisis in Africa has been exacerbated by the church's position on condoms, no question.
