Oh Kim,
This is so good...I'm linking it :o)
I just read a chapter on bitterness growing in young wives...very harmful if not caught and dealt with.
Thank You.

Bitterness is a root that will destroy all things. I have had to let go of my own over the years.
I don't understand why some families seem to get such a high dose of misfortune. We have some friends that ALWAYS seem to have a major sickness or event in their lives, but like your friends, their trust in God is inspiring. who knows, maybe it is all the hard stuff that grows their trust in God.

Kleenex please.
We get so mired in us, we forget that God has more, is more, loves more and knows more.

Oh, that last comment was me. I had to clear my cookies today, so I have to reenter my name and stuff when I usually wouldn't.
Again, a great blessing Kim.

fabulous!
I, too, have struggled with bitterness. I deserved to be bitter, those people had done me wrong. My family IS screwed up.
But two years ago I really got ahold of forgiveness...forgiveness for them, forgiveness for myself for taking so long to forgive.
When you get over it then you truly start to live.
WOW! Good stuff on here.

Kim, I came to your blog through Quiet Life's link to this post. Thank you for a beautifully said post. My family went through a church struggle this past year that left us all in various stages of bitterness. I kept praying that God wouldn't let the bitterness settle in because I've been bitter over other things in the past and He delivered me from them and I did NOT want to go back to bitterness again. Thankfully, He has been so faithful.
Reading a story about people losing children and suffering health problems makes me feel very petty for being so bitter about STUFF that isn't nearly so important. Thanks for the much-needed new perspective.

What an inspiring story. I could personally teach a course in Advanced Grudge Holding. I'm that good at it, unfortunately. :-( And I haven't met near the misfortunes that this inspiring family has. Thanks for a great story, and an important reminder.

Ya...I've been struggling with bitterness too. Nothing life threatening has been the cause of it, just hurts and disappointments and the constant struggle of life. This was a very good post and I will certainly take it to heart.

I just lost a dear friendship to bitterness, and your post was both comforting - and convicting. My friend of many years nurses her bitterness and holds it close. But - and this may seem funny - I unwittingly have grow bitter over her bitterness. The passage from Ephesians was very helpful.
Thanks.

What a wonderful story enough to let us see no matter what the situation God will always be there waiting to here from us for the repentant heart to be cleansed by the precious blood of Jesus. Our bitterness can be wiped out in a moment.
Praise God for your post and God Bless you as you reach out to others and for Rick and His family he will be blessed as the Lord has seen the pain and heartache he has been through he will be truly rewarded.

Thanks for an inspiring post, it puts my own bitterness in perspective :/ I've been feeling bitter about singleness and watching all my friends either marry or start dating someone, and as I approach 30 it gets harder :/ But this is nothing compared to what others go through. Thanks for sharing their encouraging testimony. Here's praying we'll all let God release us from any bitterness, Leah

Hi Kim, I found your post today because I was searching google on how to let go of bitterness. I am currently experiencing this struggle and it's hard but what you wrote is helping me to try and make some concrete steps to let go. How can you be gentle with yourself while you are in this struggle of letting go of bitterness?
