Gravatar "I believe that whether he designed it intentionally or not, his program seems to promote the notion that child training exists to make parenting convenient......There are certainly times when parenting is comparatively easy from one moment to the next, but the bottom line is that parenting is not convenient."

All I have to say is Amen!

Gravatar I am glad to see more and more people simply be honest about their experience. I was one that took "the class" with other couples. When we started to have our doubts, we were terrified to admit it to anyone in the group. We knew they would be dissapointed, and assume we weren't trying hard enough (when, in fact, we realized that we had some serious issues with GKGW).

Even without entering a debate, you are giving those people reassurance ... just by putting it out there on your blog.

I got to visit with a friend of mine who I haven't seen in years. . . We babywised our firstborns together. It was interesting to hear each other echo the same feelings--wanting to do the very best for our children, wanting to "start right" to avoid later problems, and realizing how much harshness we adopted because of that. And how, in all honesty, the things we wanted to avoid in doing things "right" (ie, right by Ezzo) still were factors and struggles as our children got older.
