This is why I read here. I so identify with much of your writing. A few posts ago when you discussed female friendships I was nodding my head in assent as I read. But back to what to call a female curmudgeon...I just say I'm like one of the grouchy old men in the balcony on the Muppet Show. Unfortunately, that gives the impression of a negative outlook in general which so isn't the case. I'm actually fairly optimistic, just a natural skeptic. I'm guessing that, like myself, the first thing you do when you get one of those fantastical stories via email is consult snopes.com or something similar. I just can't help it, I have to know if it's true.
The poem definitely made me cry. I have two boys.
