Gravatar Someone once told me, when I was a brand new believer, that Christianity is a religion of remembering. By that what they meant was that we learn about God from the beginning of Genesis and then as we grow in maturity we continue to look back at what we've learned, and lessons taught all through Scripture.

Looking back is a very good thing. Not the kind of looking back like Lot's wife did, but the kind of looking back you're doing - to see God's hand on your sanctification all the way through it. Sometimes its really hard, but other times there are things we need to see so that we can remember that Philippians 1:6 is pure gold.

Just a thought.

Gravatar Reflection is good. And funnily enough I have tagged you for a meme right along this theme. Please play along. I'm looking forward to reading your selections.

Gravatar "What I write is so much a reflection of what's going on in my head and heart."

Mm-hmm. Yes. And it reflects different seasons of life (to use a trite but true analogy.) My blog is pretty "boring" at the moment, but as Carla alluded, the writing I'm doing now is for the future "remembering."

Gravatar Kim,
We might think of our blogs as boring, but for those who stop in for a visit, it can be a refuge...refreshing and renewing, an encouragement...

Gravatar I echo your sentiment. I recall thinking that of my own writing when I felt my writing had become dry and pointless. Sometimes, though, I look back and wonder if I wasn't just writing in order to read myself type. Or something along those lines.

Something you said stuck out at me, as God is leading me along the "what comes next" road. About "feasting" on scripture and systematic theology. And about answering your daughter's questions about God's Word. I reflexively asked myself if I would be so well-equipped to tackle such a question, and the answer came back "no."

God has been certainly lighting up the road signs on this dim road I'm on. They're pointing to the "feast" I ought to be filling up on. They're marked with the signs of His goodness, that He's carried me through the season of exams safely to the other side, not chiding me for not making the time for theology, but bringing me safely to a point where I DO have time for theology and serious study of the Word.

Okay, this is a blog post of it's own. Keep looking up, friend.
