I don't think you sound doom and gloomy. I follow your blog on bloglines and you said exactly what I expected when I saw CBD in the first part of your post. Thanks for being faithful.
I got mine this week too as well as a new order for our church library and I'm reading the new book Do Hard Things which you would love. I can't wait to get it into the hands of the high schoolers in our church.
Somehow I missed your review of this book; thanks for linking to it. Our previous pastor's wife recommended it to me when we were in the church library together one day, so I borrowed it. Oh my! I didn't quite know what to do with my disgust for the book in contrast to my great regard for the woman. Our new pastor's wife is the church librarian, though, and it shouldn't be too hard to convince her to remove it from the library if she hasn't already.
I agree with you on the front cover of CBD catalogs. I call them the itching ears books. Unfortunately it also seems the more popular a book is the more likely it is to be spriritual junkfood or worse.
