Thank you for writing this. It's not that I haven't appreciated the other Mother's Day posts I've read. I can just relate so much better to yours. I have a similar relationship with my mother. I was discouraged (and, I'll admit, a little angry) after our conversations over the weekend, too, and for the same reasons.

Perhaps God is indeed using your parents' painful circumstances to make them aware of their need for Christ. Don't despair!

Me thinks the teenagers in your midst are quite blessed to have someone like you, encouraging them to honor their parents, helping them to recognize that by doing so, they honor the Lord.
No doubt their parents appreciate you too...

I was pondering the whole "Mother's Day" ideal and I found myself upset about it also. As I observed the different women in our congregation (we are all very close in our small church with an average of 65 in attendance) and considered there lives and the affect of this "special" day I asked myself why? Why do we allow society to send our emotions in a tailspin because they desire to commercialize a certain day for this or that for monetary gain? I praise God for my godly husband who has taught me through God's Word to look at things with the right perspective. It makes all the difference in the world.
Sorry for rambling. Thanks for this post.

Hi Margie!! How nice to see you again!
I like your phrase "emotional tailspin." And your husband is one awesome guy, as I'm sure you know.
