I'm like you in that I have had few very close friendships over the years and now have only a small circle of girlfriends and even then only rarely go to lunch or any other such "extracurricular" activities. Sometimes I miss it badly. I think your post is right on. I think we as women need each other but the foundation of our friendships ought to be "being a woman with a biblical mindset," pushing each other towards Christlikeness. I too have observed friendships at the cost of marriage and children. It, like everything else, requires balance! Great post.
