Some of the most intelligent people I know are tradesmen. I wish schools encouraged more students to go into the trades, but counselors and teachers are all university grads and they just don't think about trades as a good option.
My brother is one of those people. He was by far the more naturally gifted student in our family, but he has a job that works with his hands as opposed to one in academia. He installs and maintains phone systems. But at the same time, he is extremely well-read, very articulate and he is a killer Scrabble player!
