Pirate--I hope you actually sent this; it's a great letter. You know that I don't agree with you politically, but I do love Fred from Law and Order. (one of my favorite shows) He is an enigma though, and isn't presenting himself as strongly as he could.

I know that conservatives would like to see Ishtar tossed into the ash heap because of it's accurate portrayal of the relationship between the US government and a Middle East despot (modeled after real life counterparts such as the Shaw of Iran, Saddam Hussein, The House of Saud, the gold toilet seat crowd of Kuwait, and on and on and on) - but Ishtar is alive and well.

In fact, this 20th anniversary year is going to be a great year for Ishtar...
There is a documentary film about Ishtar fandom in the works, the
manager of the Ishtar fan website
(http://www.ishtarthemovie.com/) is putting together a tribute CD featuring cover versions of songs from the movie, and possibly a US release on DVD (something the heathen in Europe have been enjoying for years). So shake off that square world, get with the countdown, and blast off to Ishtar!

Listen, about the health care, there will be no universal coverage without government involvement. A lot of us (including me) think it's a travesty to spend $50 billion in Iraq every few months, and not even that much IN FIVE YEARS to cover deserving children.

Pirate - I too am disappointed in Fred Thompson's lack of defining his character. If he doesn't take a stand soon and define his candidacy, he will lose big time.
