It is reasonable to think that we are not told the truth about the quack Freud because his fellow travellers, who just happen to control all of the popular media and academe, have a big stake in keeping the truth a secret.
VA - I have no expertise to offer except I agree with what you are saying. I would also throw in Dr. Spock as two the most detrimental figures of the last 100 years or so over social mores and behaviors.
