Something's Gone Wrong Again

Gravatar One of the few early SNFU releases I haven't heard and great Quincy links. Quincy is now making its way onto DVD but I think they are only up to @ episode 30 and Road To Nowhere (I think that's what it's called is @100).

Gravatar SNFU just broke up late last summer (2005).

Gravatar When I was in high school, I was driving to hockey practice with this kid from my neighborhood. He was definitely not punk rock in any way, shape or form. (A decent goalie though) Anyway, I happened to be playing SNFU on the car radio when I picked him up. He asked who it was and I told him it was SNFU. He asked what the initials meant. I thought it meant Situation Normal, Fucked Up, but he had his own definition: Suck Nipples From Uganda!

Gravatar Jello Biafra came to Portland and took over the console of KBOO's studio (on a show hosted by Poison Idea's Tom 'Pig' Roberts) and played "Real Men Don't...", as well as lots of foreign punk.
The rather generic mid-nineties punk band Jughead's Revenge covered the song played by the fake punk band in that Quincy episode ("I dig PAIN!!!") and featured soundbites from it.
WFMU posted some audio of that episode here. (scroll down to it).

Gravatar I thought it was Situation Normal All Fucked Up, but they dropped the 'A' because everyone circled it. They used to bring their hockey sticks with them on tour and play other bands in street hockey. And Chi Pig used to bring the best props live. I remember him taking a paddle ball racket and hitting coffee cake jr's into the crowd. They also had a side band called the "Wheat Chiefs" or something like that.

Gravatar The Qunicy Punx also do/did a great version of Pain.

Gravatar Ok , the "pain" song i am thinking of was from the punk episode of Chips. Sorry.

Gravatar "she's not on the menu"- uh huh

Gravatar They were a great live band in their time...I saw a picture of Chi Pig from not that long ago, and, well, life has not been kind to him.

Gravatar OOPS...
i keep getting my bad 80's tv shows mixed up!
You are right, jason!

Gravatar I remember a photo of Chi Pig in old fanzines jumping like a madman and hanging under the ceiling

Gravatar The Quincy song was called Choke. The Wretched Ones do a good version of it.

I've seen SNFU a few times, but the best was in like 2000 in Winnipeg. They played a few songs off of the, then new, Ping Pong ep, but most of their set was off of the first three records. All of which are awesome. They also played the mind numbingly good song off of Someone Got Their Head Kicked In, "Victims of the Womanizer." While he may look like shit, Chi Pig's still got tonnes of energy.

Gravatar I use to like Quincy until I heard that clip of him bashing punks. I don't know which record I heard it on, but I it was someone other than SNFU as I have no SNFU records.

Gravatar great post. i used to be waaay into this band for a bit.

Gravatar i saw SNFU on 8-8-88 (easy to remember). great band, nicest guys in the world, even having the balls to call out the tough guys in slapshot for being dicks to everyone and going way over their time slot. swiz was the opener. ah, the good ol' days.

Gravatar this is great shit from SNFU. I first heard 'em in '84 on the 'Something To Believe in' Comp LP on BYO, with the rip - ass 'Womanizer'. Finally got to see 'em in Zurich (Switz) in '88 on their first Euro Tour... it remains one of the BEST gigs I've ever been to, SNFU were just awesome. Seen them quite a few rtimes since, but that gig was the best, by far. They split up (again!!) last summer, but I can definitely recommend their last CD 'In The Meantime and In Between Time'... anyways... 1, 2... SNF...U!!!

Gravatar I used to live in Vancouver, and had the distinct pleasure of seeing them live many times since about 1986 or so.

IMHO they weren't the same after Brent Belke left, leaving only Marc on guitar. I saw them in LA a couple of times (once at the Whiskey) and while Chi had the energy, the crowds were small and not too into them.

Their latest album is pretty good, FYULBA was their best since Stick in the Eye, but in all honesty, they have never done a bad album, and I have all of them in rotation.

Thanks for posting these MP3's, I've never been able to find those!!

Gravatar i loved "she's not on the menu"!

Gravatar Thanks!
